Books Nerd out time...with books!

So, i'm a bit of a scifi fan when it comes to leisure reading. I've recently finished rereading the New Jedi Order Series beginning to end, and am now on the Thrawn Trilogy. Yep i love Star Wars books

But i'm reaching the end of the good multi book series i've got. Can anyone recommend other good series or long single Star Wars books, or other Star Wars esque type book series that are a good read.

The 5 Timothy Zahn books are the best of the Star Wars books but I also have a soft spot for the X-wing series (mainly due to playing the game so much!).

Other than that I'd always recommend Iain M Banks if you haven't read any of his books.

Second this, the Night's Dawn trilogy is amazing (plus all his other stuff as well).

Nights Dawn trilogy is awesome, the various Confederation books are good. Avoid Fallen Dragon and Mispent Youth, they are gash. Mindstar Rising and the rest of the Greg Mandell stories are good.

Redshirts by John Scalzi is good.
