Need ideas for maps

I'm into mapping atm, but i'm running short on ideas for map locations and themes and objectives for CS.
Any Ideas?

I am actually considering creating a Map or my College / Old school, but, i have absolutly no idea on how to create one... its just one of those things you wanna know about heh

I had an idea for a map, based on an Oil Tanker out in the sea. The cts would descend from ropes off a helicopter above the bow, and take forward positions along the surface (hiding behind boxes/pipes/stuff), or down a hatch and through the tanks. The objective would be 6 hossies held on the bridge, where the t's would be able to snipe at the cts, defend the doors, etc.

The rescue point would be the helicopter, or a small dinghy over the side somewhere. There would be cranes and stuff that you could operate, and massive doors that you could open and close. Parts of the hull would be damageable (like the wall in office).

I also toyed with the idea of having a deck gun for the t's, instead of rifles.

OK so maybe cts dropping from ropes is a bit much (cue much falling and splatting), but I thought the general idea was sound.

Its a pity I know fuck all about making maps.

tom - i like it - prolly will make it de_ tho and with the CT's defending.
Makes more sense really :)
its a gr8 idea cuz its fairly simple to make :)

You could make it a Hostage Map and call it AS_Oilrig2 ;)

If it was a de map, you would have to make the t's arrive in several dinghys, say 3, and the bomb would need to be fairly impressive (or the scenario could be that u destroy the bridge and ground the tanker).

You could have some of the tanks (accessible from the deck) filled with lethal crude, and controls on the bridge to open/shut the hatches.

If you do make it, let us know so we can play it.

super gray - no offense but making a school map well......lets just say its been done before by other people and they get flamed....a lot.

Tom - I was thinking the T's could arrive by helicopter and start on the helipad about 1/2 way down the tanker - the CT's start with 2 in the bridge and the rest in the gaurds quarters a deck or two below the bridge.

The main bombsites as the bridge or the engine room.

Dont wanna give out too much info or some1 else will make it lol.

right speaking with a little knowledge about these things,firstly.tom great idea,would be a very hard map from a ct point of view but as life like as you would want.as you'd probably find something like this in a real scenario.secondly im gonna be really picky now,the ct's wouldnt descend they would repel in from ropes below a hovering heli.also have some cts arriving by rigid raider,both groups then taking a forward position.dont let the terrors have snipes as they already have a big enough advantage.i like the bit about the walls or a certain wall,being damagable especiallly if the sea would rush in drowning all the camping terrors,lol.make it a hostage rescue it would be a better game.other than that great idea.

What about something like cs_blackhawkdown If you dont mind getting in trouble over any copyright problems.

You could have the citys entering from crashed helicopters with terrorists holding hostages in some central buildings in a market place type area. and an rescue point on the border or something.

Just watch the film there even useing the right guns m4's and AK's etc.

Oh and put some humvies in there for a laugh.

Make a de_ map where T's have to blow up a dam, have 2 bomb sites one upper and one lower. add some crates, huts and a generator room and your sorted :)

Still maybe r speeds of something like a dam might be high ?

Funny you should say that, I watched the film a few months ago and couldn't stop thinking about CS all the way through. Is it possible to do maps that are in the dark with tracer rounds?

Hmm... that just reminded me that i have played Thunder.. i remember going up the Ladder in the Generator Room and camping.. heh

If you want tracers play DoD. Tracers from a MG42 on full auto are pretty impressive. :)

I've been playing a little bit with WorldCraft, it's not that hard. I think the biggest bummer is the sheer amount of time it would consume, compiling maps takes ages on my machine.

I'm trying to think of ways to implement my Desert Dunes assassination map idea which allow me to compile the map inside of an hour. If possible I'd like to ban AWMs because I'm sick to death of them quite frankly - they're too easy and they wreck game play. Similar to an escape map I'm planning on dropping a few AUGs around the CT spawn and a few Scouts & a G3 around the T spawn.

One thing is for sure though : It will take bloody ages to create a map. :)

Bungle - you could user the map parameters to prevent either side buying, and give the CT's a weapon stash :)

can you do maps with uneven sides, say 6 ct and 10 or 12 t. A kind of running the gauntlet type scenario where the ct's have found themselves trapped in the terrorists nest, bravo 2 zero style, and have to shoot their way out to safety/ or perhaps just leg it and hope for the best:)

i'll explain the last comment
in es_ scenarios the T's only had pistols and scavenged weapons to use and had to escape from the ct's
my fav was es_trinity, which was a traincrash and the t's had got free, and a ct team had been dropped in to eliminate em.

btw es_ maps can work either way as CT's escaping or T's escaping but it usually made for sense for the T's to be the ones running.

how about one iwht a boat where cts start out then they have to dive into the water to get into a submarine that the Ts have high jacked and then the cts have to save the hostages in the sub:D

For some reason, I have the Biker Bar at the start of Terminator 2 stuck in my head, and think that might make an ideal setting for a CS map.

Okay then, how about a shopping mall with escalators and glass lifts where the ct's have to get hossies to the roof while the t's try to stop them and zombies want to eat their brains(both teams of course). Braaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnssssss.
