Need an ADSL modem :(

Ordered a nic cheap one (55 quid) from Dabs and then they go and delay it for 2 weeks ((

So I'm looking for a cheap replacement... any ideas??

I've heard USB modems are best avoided, for the same reason that WinModems are shite.

It's just that one of the big uses of it is to attach devices that offer something, rather than do it, hence your computer does all the work.

USB are OK i believe, in College we just gotta USB Network Cable, fuckin super dooper fast and piss easy to install

Yes, USB is very fast, and you can plug in devices whilst your system is running, however i gather that any cable/adsl modem that uses USB relies on software to do the work, which means your system resources are being used.

The extra cach required to get an ethernet card, which will do all the work, isn't much, so it has to be better.

Altho its a bastard when you go into Safemode using a USB Mouse... thank fuck i know the Keyboard Shortcuts to device manager lol

I use the USB/PS2 adapter on my IntellimouseE... Plus if X seems to be b0rked, i just use virtual terminal to try and fix it :/
