My girlfriends 19th birthday is coming up - but I have no money what so ever. Been thinking about loaning some cash to buy her something, but dunno.

So my question is, what could I "give" her that doesnt cost a lotof money... But that she would still be happy for?

Or am I just screwed?

Just plan a special day for her, doesn't have to cost alot of money. It's the thought behind and the amount of planing etc that does it. Like, say; my present to you starts here. Blindfold her and lead her into a room where you have a nice buket of flowers (which you can pick yourself) and a picnic basket (which basicly just cost whatever food you have, but keep it light) and make sure you have strawberries. Take her out, find a nice grassy spot. Since the weather is so nice you might aswell take advantage. When you feel it's enough take her home, tell her to take a nice long bath and you will take care of the rest. make (or if you have no cooking talent whatso ever.. like me) order in (her favorite ofcourse) it's the ambience you create that counts not if you made the food yourself. make a nice table setting and some candles. Have everything ready when she gets out. Then over dinner just tell her how much she means to you. When the dinner is done you clean everything up. No making her do housework now maybe rent her favorite movie the day before so she can start while you take care of the cleaning up. Then if the mood is right later, sex her up. And work extra hard!

all this can be done fairly cheap and would probably make her feel better than if you bought her some mediocre piece of jewelry

Thanks for the input mate, thats what I did for our 6month day tbh, got a mate to light 150candlelights while we were out eating etc. A really nice day indeed... Perhaps I should do something like that again, just use some of your advices to lower the cost.



How about the old write her a letter explaining how much she means... or is that just too sleesy(sp?)... And guess there should be something more then just that hehe.

blackjacks answer was perfect and if you want to write a letter how about making it really nice and getting it framed and giving that to her as the presant to top it all off, tbh when me and bf have a special occasion just spending time together making eachother feel special is the best anyone can give.

Alternatively, check out ebay, you can get some brand new gear (with tags etc.) for under £10 (mainly clothes though).

O and for some nice but cheap handbags: Clicky I got my gf one for her 16th and she absoluotely loved it.

Echome, I think Blackjack has got it in one tbh, it's not what you spend but how much thought and caring has gone into it without spending too much cash.
To try sum your problem up I'll give you an example...........
My ex used to buy me say a Prada coat for £320, buy bits and bats prolly totalling £400,............thing is she expected exactly the same amount spent on her no matter my status on her birthday.

So why did'nt we just give each other money lol or not even bother!
I would have been more happy if she had put a little thought into it as I tried with her birthdays, i.e seeing what concert she wants to go to or plan a day out.

I'm digressing a bit, but point is it's not the cost but the knowing you care and to make it a special day for her.

a good fun thing i done for a girl once was do a treasure hunt, start with a note in her house then she has to follow the notes getting something small everytime, takes the whole day, you spend it together, if you live near nice open places (like near rivers etc) take a camera (my gf was really into taking pics) take pics while during the treasure hunt then end it on something nice like a really laid out meal in the garden etc
