Curious about you views on this:

Commentators have be going on about players not performing for their country in the same way they do for their clubs, such as Henry; Gerard; Lampard; Terry; Ronaldo etc,.

Some would put this down to the fact that they only have a few weeks together to get organised and used to their teammates style.

So the question is, would a first class League team such as Man Utd, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and the like, beat a national team such as Brazil, Italy or even England?

I mean, if that wasn't the case, then surely Chelsea would be made up of players from practically one nation?

They play in different systems and positions for their national teams, which I suppose kills the game of some players (henry) and for other players takes getting used to (gerrard and lampard).

Ronaldo hasn't been on from for two seasons now, for club or country.

I think the national teams you mentioned would beat most club sides if they played a lot of games together, like club teams do. Also remember that international games tend to be a lot tighter than most league games, play is not as open, less goals are genrally scored and mistakes cost you more.

I feel sorry for Henry tbh hes in an old french sqaud with alot of average players, at Arsenal the team is built around him, in the french team hes just another player.

Lampard needs a defensive midfielder (makelele) as does Gerard (Alonso) this gives them both the freedom to go where they want to on the pitch. They struggle to play together cause neither of them know when to go and when to stay. playing in the 442 formation we are not using the best formation for Lampard or Gerard.

I would play 3-5-2 with Carrick as the holding midfielder.
