Since I'm working all weekend I've "acquired" NTW a few days early (I've already preordered on steam so it's not stealing!!)

Only been playing a few hours but a lot of my complaints about ETW have been addressed:
Battle maps are more varied, not just flat maps with random forests or occasional houses.
The "Demand surrender" button works!
Diplomacy seems a bit less retarded
End Turn is no longer a reason to go make tea, doesnt take that long
My general didn't insta-die when I charged him into combat

And intriguingly there's the "Drop in battle" option which means you will occasionally get invites to join other players campaign battles to take the place of the AI... and of course the opposite, sometimes your enemy will be another player!

It's all very demon souls.... i haven't tried it yet, didn't seem wise without a legit copy

ive bought every Total War game/addon since shogun... not planning on getting this
they shot themselve in the foot with Empire "we cant be arsed to fix it, sega want it out now, so fuck you all you can beta test it for us" Total War. Plus its a lot of wedge for an addon, 15 quid is mroe than enough , especially when you consider a lot of the "new" features, were stuff that was peddled as being in E;TW originally, so its a bit cheeky tbh

I enjoyed ETW, it was buggy and I stopped playing it at release just cos it would always crash around 1750. Went back to it after a few patches though and once you get some decent techs, the battles become a lot more fun

It wasn't perfect but I'm not gonna abandon a series I've always loved over it

other thing with E;TW i couldnt get with is the combat. the weapon range is wank, basic firearms is one thing, but a 24 pounder can fire more than about 300 feet.
had to resort to using DarthMod just to make it playable

I loved ETW but won't be buying Napoleon, feels too much like a quick cash scheme rather than a new game. Guna wait till they do the next one Hopefully it will be Shogun 2 or WW1.

I'd love a good Napoloenic RTS, I'm dying to buy one, but I don't think this is the one :(

Definitely not buying this. Rome TW was awesome. Medieval TW was awesome. Empire TW was fucking crap.

The main problem I had with Empire was that when you started a battle, you fought on some random map not the actual landscape you were on. Used to love that on Rome where I had to fight on a beach because my forces had been pushed back to the bottom of Italy with no escape. Or I would hold a mountain pass in the alps against invaders. Have they fixed that for Napoleon or is it still random maps?

That's my main complaint about NTW, the battles in campaign still have shitty boring maps :(

Such a shame really, in reality both Napoleons and Wellington made huge use of topography so having flat maps with occasional trees all the time is crap.

Still there's plenty of historical battles to play with 'proper' maps

I couldnt resist it and bought this game, my first Total War game. So far I've enjoyed it - what I've played of it! - but I wish I could just play the battle of Waterloo as Wellington, which is all I wanted to do ....

ETW was good...when you could get it to work but I can't help but feel NTW is just cashing in on something that should of been in ETW.

DArthmods scary.

you get thousands of demented indians running at you with axes, instead of hundreds.

the unit sizes are mahoosize

There's a patch out today so that you can play Waterloo as British, which is what I bought the game for, splendid :)
