n4_disp.dll Blue Screen, ffs

Hmm.... While attempting to resolve an issue with the MoH:AA demo I uninstalled my nVidia 23.11 drivers and installed the older, 21.83 drivers. It didn't fix the problem so I uninstalled and reinstalled 23.11 again.

Now whenever I exit Half-Life (or mods) I get a blue screen with an error citing n4_disp.dll. (Google returns no info about this file)

Do any of you lovely peeps have any suggestions?

I've reapplied 1108 but have yet to uninstall and reinstall Half-Life (was trying to put that off, tbh)

:)

Display drivers...I hate them....always piss me off

I found the 21.83 drivers a bit buggy myself. I kept getting an error when trying to go into advanced options from display settings under XP. Funnily enough I could use the nvidia shortcut okay?? I take it you probably uninstalled the 21.83 drivers first before applying the 21.11 drivers?

Xp seems a bit crap at rolling back drivers but you may want to try that instead?

As a last resort why not just do a system restore to before the 21.83??

Hope this helps

K... I've run fdisk... now what? :/

I've sorted this, if anyone's interested. After a lot of farting about, dropping my desktop down to 16bit colours did the trick. It was always on true colour before so I dunno why it started now, but there it is.

I ran fdisk last night :)

Needed to stick windows on my drive for games, but it didn't like the fat32 partition i made it, so it refused to boot. Someone in IRC told me to try using dos fdisk to make the partition, which i did, and it installed/booted ok from it.

You possibly neglected to mark the partition as active, but we digress...

The same problem has happened to me with Win XP, the 23 drivers have caused much havoc with XP.
Rolling back doesn't work either, you need to run chkdsk off the CD if you can, it always finds and fixes problems.

NVidia's drivers are shite when it comes to leaving old crap in the registry.

A complete removal and re-install with 22.83 drivers made everything cool - but if you look around on the net you will see many blue screen probs with the latest 23 drivers.

They are about 15% faster - errr but you cant run anything on them except benchmarking software !!
