Mythic vs. Blizzard responses

This was posted on VN. Having read the thread I can only agree with the original poster this is an awesome Dev response.

I don't think it needs a lot more comment other than to observe that the contrast between Mythic and Blizzard is pretty stark and it would be nice to see a similar level of professionalism and respect for their player base from the owners of DAOC.

Why has this been posted here? there are no mythic devs so you can't lure them out. This is not the wow forum and theres nothing contructive about daoc inside the post.

If you think WoW >> daoc
or blizzard >>> mythic.

Just have to point out that all the bliz poster says is "great post, ill pass this along" which doesnt mean anything really Mythic have also been "looking into" stuff etc, so its way too early to tell if Bliz will succeed better than mythic in listening to constructive player feedback (and not to whiners etc).

Just for the record, i like both games.

You have to admit, that mythic shot themselves in the foot with the last responces they gave to the TL reports.

The blizzard post, does go into a lot of detail of why and why not, i would rather have that than

"tabled, need specifics"

Hmm did i miss something in the thread in the link? I looked through all 20+ pages and only found one bluetext post, and it said "great post, ill pass it along". Whats so special compared to mythic about this response? Or could anyone specify where this post from bliz is that you are excited about?

Just because Blizz reply, does not mean they will do anything about it, like Mythic, they read, they file under either "do" or "touch this with a barge pole and youre fired!", then rubber stamp a forum with "We are working on it."

It looked like a well thought out Blizzard reply, most of which could be summed up with 'Design Decision'. It also suggested that they were doing there balancing character vs. character, not group vs. group, but that could be just because that's what the complainers were doing.

Let's have a look at the essence of the Blizzard response...

Rage Build: "they aren't intended to be as frenetic as a rogue to play"

A.k.a. "Working as intended"

1H + shield: "it is intended to be so" and "we plan to address these"

A.k.a. "Working as intended" with a little bit of "tabled"

2H weapons: "this is known/intended"

A.k.a. "Working as intended"

Dual Wield : "It is intended "

A.k.a. yep you guessed it...


And to finish off we have:

"it really isn't necessary to inform us of this. We know this, that's how we made it, thanks again for the reminder"

A.k.a. "I'm starting to get tired of this little charade of listening to our customers."

Can't be arsed to finish the rest, but you see the only real difference is that because Blizzard staff haven't had to endure 3 years of bitching and whining they are still managing to sugar-coat the responses to keep the kids happy. Doubt it will last

In conclusion, while I don’t agree with many of the assertions you’ve made regarding warriors, I do agree that warriors should be improved. Not only will the bugs that are making the warriors less potent than we expected get fixed, but we do plan on improve some of the warrior’s abilities (“awesome changes”, I swear!). ;]

Well-played warriors are both a playable and viable class in PvE and PvP, and will likely become more so. I want to extend everyone who has contributed valuable, objective feedback our thanks, and assure you that we not only pay attention to that feedback, buy also analyze it carefully. We realize that when players become frustrated, there are invariably claims of hidden personal agendas to hold back that player’s class, but I want to assure you that there isn’t any class in the game that isn’t played by at least a few highly-opinionated blizzard employees that are very interested in preserving the balance of that class and the game in general. If we didn’t actually like a class or its core concepts, we never would have made it. ;]

I prefer our GoA GM's to Blizzard's-we-don't-care-queue any day. Since we don't have any dealing with the devs, it's kind of hard to compare. I can only assume that in DAoC's early days the devs were actually involved with the community, more so than they are now. I wonder if the Blizzard devs will still be involved as much in 3 years.
