Mythic are allowing re-specing..

Mythic has always believed that the player community and its feedback. We have heard the requests for allowing characters to be respecced due to evolution of the game since its release, as well as to be more lenient of training mistakes made by players when leveling characters. We took a long time on deciding to do this, but we wanted to be absolutely sure that it is the right thing to do, as well as be sure of the right way to do it - and it is and so we are. So, partial "respeccing" will be implemented for all players. This means that you can remove points spent in a specialization and "re-spend" them - which allows you to correct any specialization mistakes you've made, or to slightly alter your character's skills.

The way we're implementing the respec for initial testing is to let players convert one of their specializations twice in their career: at 25th level and 40th level. This means they can pick one specialization, have it be reverted down to 0 trains, and be given back the specialization points they trained in it. These spec points can then be used to train in any other specialization, or combination of specializations (or indeed the same one) as they wish.

Existing characters 25-39 will be given one respec immediately, and then another when they reach 40th level. Characters 40th-50th will be given two respecs immediately. All characters under level 25 will get one respec at level 25 and one at level 40."

Wonder if Goa will let us do that too eventually :D

If Mythic puts it into the game, then we get it here. It's just a question of what patch it's in, and how long before it gets installed by GOA. But it's always "when" and not "if".

lol. sounds good if you messed up...

but of course goa will fudge it like everything else. we'll "de-spec" one of our spec lines to redistribute points and THEN find out that we didnt get the damn spec points back to re-use :D

going to be a fun weekend on the forums when someone loses 46lvl's of void spec due to a truely prize winning goa :flame: fuckup :flame:

Anyone else thought about designing a character to use these respecs? For example, could do a minstrel with 0 stealth spec and abnormally high slash/thrust up to 40, then respec and go down to 29 in slash then bring your stealth up.
Feel free to ignore my rambling :D but I'm sure there'll be a way to make levelling easier in the pre-RvR levels, and then use respec to adjust for RvR.

It may not be quite as long as you all think, before we get 1.50. After all, by the time the US servers have it, we'll probably (er... hopefully) have moved onto 1.49.

thats the only problem with this is that it can be used to 'powerlvl' up the characters and change for RvR at lvl40, and all the lvl50s can take spec out of say for a hib ranger (i know what they can spec in) 48 in pathfinding which they used to lvl up as they dont need to lvl up anymore and put it all in bow/stealth.....i know they still kinda need the pathfinding but its just an example.

also enchanter can go full light, lvl really fast then at 40 put it all into mana and kick ass in RvR :( donno how mythic will be able to control it, but i hope they figure it out coz its still a gr8 idea.

I hope it won't be a full respec. because people will abuse that to much.
Something where they give you the oportunity to rectify mistakes you made is ok, but a wiz changing from fire to ice spec for instance is plain wrong.
Make it a partial respec, where you can only change x points (not all)

Respec ?

Well I totally agree, it is a good idea, BUT only a small amount of points . I think an error can be fixed in a few points. Unless u have totally wasted ur character, but then again u should reroll.

I dunno what would be a good number of spec points to allow changed but 5 lvl's or so should do the trick ;)

It could be nice to change my blade spec to blunt, but then again I chose blades long time ago.

why limit the amount you can change?

who cares if a stealther wants to lvl to 40 easy using a pve spec then change to rvr spec... you only get two chances to do it. one at lvl 25 and one at lvl 40 so it's not like you can just keep on doing it or anything.

imo it's up to teh person... if they want to fully respec then that's their issue. no one elses. what do i care if a fire wiz decides to become an ice wiz. up to him as far as i'm concerned.

this isn't really an issue to me since my spec is one of the simplest possible. go 46 void. max the rest with items then put all the other points including half ding's into light. what could be easier. so i wont need to respec. but to someone who fancy's going to other way after they get bored at lvl 25 but doesnt want to have to go all the way through 25 boring arse levels all over again i could imagine that it's a god send. leave it alone for gods sake! if you dont want to fully respec then dont! but if others do then that's their business. :D

i see this as a good thing, when it comes ill try a bladeshade but i doubt ill stick with it, due to the fact that i have now spent so long as a pierce shade i know basically what i want and what moves to use, so why change ;) (also pierce moves come off evades rather than parrys genrally, so are better for shades)

I think Mythic meant the lvl25 re-spec for making corrections to your spec, like when you've put points to 2 different weapons and realizing you're a gimp and the lvl40 one to adjust your spec more towards the end-game.

I think It will be very interesting ... imagine, You did for example Void Eldrich .... and You are lvl 50 ... and after playing for some time You think that you would like to try Light Eldrich - so You dont need to spend a lot of time to lvl new eldrich - just respec ... Very interesting possibility. Or for example You are SB and tried to use high lvl Envenom, but later You have forund that u need it not - just respec .... very good, i like it.

To make things even more complicated and to let us speculate even more Mythic is also looking into the different attack styles and is going to change a lot of them.

What I'd like to see about styles changed is snare removed from Garrote and its endurance cost dropped. Also make the 2 highest CS styles in to a new hidden chain or have the other chain off Achilles Heel and the other off something else, now they're part of a 4 style evade chain... Fix CD/DW also, they should be more usable.

Lots & lots things to fix with styles.

Respec isn't in 1.50, not the current version of it anyway. Maybe we'll get what ever patch it's in some time next decade...

lol, u dont "powerlvl" your char to lvl 40.. even if you are sleeping with someone at mythic lvl 40 still takes atleast 10 days effective time to get.

i relly hope respeccing comes within my lifespan.. i soo wanna run around with a flameing 2-handed sword!
