is fucked :(, a while ago I posted about things taking forever to open, and games freezing every couple of seconds, well yesterday I decided to run a benchmark and see how the drives were doing, below are the results.

I think I have a problem with my D Drive, below are the drive specs and the results I have gained from various benchmarks.

C:/ WD Caviar Special Edition 40 GB EIDE hard drive
Benchmark Results
PCmark 2002 pro Score: 658
Cached File Write: 8.9
Uncached File Write: 13.7
Cached File Read: 32.6
Uncached File Read: 33.1
File copy 8.7

I have reformatted the D Drive and am still getting the same results, do you think it's the Hard drive or could it be the IDE cable?.

Cheers

Make sure your drive isn't running in PIO Mode. Its in device manager.

I had a similar problem and it was down to the data cable being too close to a power cable which was interfering with the data, this causes windows XP to step back the acceleration until either the corrupt data being transmitted is stopped or it runs out of steping downs.

Have you tried removing the IDE Controllers and letting XP redetect them? Thats worked for me
