The guide is located here..http://guides.freddyshouse.com/cs/tweaking/index.php i try to tweak my stuff yet it still LAGS for me.. i get usually 60+ ping when im suppose to be getting 50-

Could someone post some console commands that would actually work for me?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.

I'm assuming your on an ADSL connect...

rate 7500
cl_cmdrate 50
cl_updaterate 50

Try these then try setting them higher until you find your peak ping (just before the settings make your ping higher).

No offence to SAS but that bit of the guide seems as old as the hills :)
I use rate 20000 cl_cmdrate 101 and cl_updaterate 101 for 100fps with vysnc on at 100hz refreshrate. My ping - for what its worth- is about 25-35 mostly.
I also use fps_max 101 too.

Do you run Netgraph_1 constantly during the game?

If so - that is causing you some of the lag. Try running net_graph 3 instead - this will not suck up your bandwidth

Also, if you are on DSL, try :

rate 20000
cl_updaterate 60
cl_cmdrate 75

and then steadily increase / decrease the cl_ variables until you are happy.

Alternatively, just dive straight in and set these values to 101 as throddy indicated.

Wow 3 conflicting reviews, how helpful :)

Although I'm curious about netgraph_1 causing lag, is this actually true? If so I blame it for all my deaths as I have run it constantly for years :/

There is not definitive correct answer for this one. Pings vary between conn types, processing etc, so everyone has different views.

As for Netgraph - yes. Netgraph 1 does cause lag

Dosnt it cause your fps to drop or something, rather than actual connection lag.? Which I guess has similar consequences anyway :(

i use 11000, 101, 101.. seems to work for me

I havea toggle to set it lower as well, but i'm not convinced that it does anything :/

i get around ping around 25-40, and 99fps

PS my first venture from tech nation in... pretty much ever.
