My old DAOC original CD broken

The original CD has ceased to work, due to aging i think.
cant see any visible scratches or anything so i think it must be data surface aging.
i have the original cd with cd-key box and manual.
but cant install from it.

So i asked a friend to do a copy of his original for me, and then i would use my cd-key when installing.

However it wont work. it says illegal copy and wont let me install.
i feel it is a waste of money actually having to buy a totally new box to install it since i have a valid licensé.

Have anyone been able to get a copy to work?

P.S i have 2 accounts one crafting acct with daoc only, it is the crafting acct that o cant fire up :/.

The original game CD is protected with something like safedisk -you wont be able to copy it, they do things like add bad blocks/sectors to the CD when you try to copy the disk your copy program cant read the bad sectors so will fail or write a blank one.

The cheapest way to sort this out is just to buy another box of the game, its pretty cheap on amazon. Or dare i say it look on ebay or another auction site - occasionaly people sell the game there (NOT WITH CHARACTERS) but you can sometimes pick up the CD for a few quid, after all you'll be using your original account so cant see GOA moaning about that.

think its possible to make a folder, and put update.dat and camelot.exe in it, then run camelot.exe and it will download all necessary files.

Or use your friends original copy to install the game with (using your own licence key obviously). You don't need the cd after installation so he can have it back ten minutes later.

Yeah I agree, install game with ur friend cd. U dont need it after it

if you run daoc on two machines its just copy (the fully installed game) it over network and it will work or share the cd drive and install

edit: er. probably works on only one machine also, just copy your existing daoc dir.. tip: deselect all screenies
