Suddenly my uber blueyonder broadband collapsed into a woefully slow internet connection two days ago, and I have no idea what's causing it. It's very irritating. Any ideas what could be causing it?

Have they issued any warnings on their homepage? Might want to do a virus check as well to make sure you don't have any trojans or spyware buried in your pc.

I've searched extensively for both spyware and viruses, and that doesn't seem to be the issue. I'll check on their homepage though.

Stop sitting on the cable?
Try reasoning with the puter i.e. "Listen, I know I use you alot...but it's only 'cos I care about you man. If only you'd speed up again..... we can both be happy ..ok..?"
Kick it?
Scream obscenities at it?
Umm.....ring Blueyonder and threaten to leave thier clientele?

Ok, that's me outta ideas. Good luck.

A lot of the cable network is very over subscribed, that may have something to do with it

Is your cable modem in view? If so watch for the LED's on the box as the line is running, this will show for sure if it's a trojan and someone accessing you. You've probably already checked tho so probably not much help :(

The only problem with cable over ISDN type internet connections is that the more people use cable in the same area the lower the speed gets, but the ISDN stays the same as that is a connection direct to your home.

With more and more cables being layed all the time it's probably unlikely that this is the cause, especially such a drastic drop in kb/s. Possible some cables have been damaged or are being worked on in your area. The best bet is to phone Telewest and ask their customer services, if they aren't already aware and working on it then you're doing them a favour by reporting a fault.

Sorry I can't help more but it's most likely a line or hardware fault.

It seems to be self-fixing itself now, a great improvement yet not totally 100%. I fear Telewest customer support. The thickest Indian accents I've ever encountered.

Poor guy, well maybe you can benefit from this, like go out, meet a nice lass? Or do volunteer work? Or just do what I would do and sit in front of the computer going insane and swearing, frothing spittle while you figure out wtf is going wrong!
