I have a descent gaming rig yet my FPS is crap. Its a bit worse in a bot match than using the 'net but still I have been forced to take off 32-bit textures and vertex lighting and the sky had to go completelly! I can run Q3 with everythin smashed up to full @ 90FPS with bots, why not Tribes2? The graphics dont seem that complex.

Spec--------------------
Athlon 1Ghz
Abit KA7 Mboard
256Mb 133 CAS2 Ram
ATI Radeon 64DDR ViVO - Using the best drivers of a bad bunch :)
Sound Blaster Live!
And my pride and joy...
My ADSL line :)

make sure you use the ABIT mobo drivers, my fps shot up using the latest mobo drivers from the abit site. Also grab NVMax and look on tweakfiles.com/guru3d.com for the settings for NVMax

I get 40-90 fps @near max settings on :
P3 733 @133Mhz
256meg Cas3 cheapo RAM
ABIT SA6 mobo
SB PCI 128
GF2 MX 32meg

same, quake 3 fps is excellent on full graphics, but on t2 my fps is around 5-10 out side, 10-20 inside

i have a geforce 2 mx

amd athlon 750
288mb ram
isdn 64k connection

i have the latest 12:90 drivers, i downloaded NVmax and tweaked my card, over clocked it to a safe level....

i have no sky on, shadow detail down, palletized textures (as there no diference between than and 32bit) weather effects off, terrain and building detail down

err, saying my q3 runs at XXX fps so why doesnt T2 is a bit daft.
Firstly Q3 is over a year old and the engine although looks good, isnt as advanced. Secondly q3 maps are tiny compared to T2, take the map recalesance, each teams base is about the size of a large q3 map, there are 2 and they are placed about 1400meters away from each other so there is a that extra terrain between. Thirdly Most T2 servers have about 30-60 people in, where as your average quake3 game can be anything from 2 to 16.

I get fine FPS on gf2mx, celeron400 and textures on about 50% and palletised. Never drops below 15 and that is good. If you dont like your fps, lower the details or buy new hardware.

Point, but the buildings in T2 look like they were built before curves were invented, and even at max the drawing disance is only about 500m. The fact that the maps are huge means that aulthough T2 has more players, there should still be roughly the same amount on screen.
Im just sayin that my fairly advanced Radeon card sould be able to manage a good stable FPS i.e. mabey there is summin up with my setup that someone might be able to help me on.
I dont like that crap unreliable Radeon anyway. I got an ELSA Gladiac 920 (Ge-Force 3, oh yeah!) on order.

Dunno, FPS tends to vary on different systems. I have a downright poor computer but i get a pretty descent FPS. Although I guess a lot of tweaking has helped me there. www.tweak3d.net

also the main proccessor makes a bit difference , well it did to mine, switching ffrom an old athlon 700 rig to a athlon axia @1.4 with identical hardware made the game so much smoother oh and lots of ram :p

if its a 1 gig chip and u cant run it at 1gig on 100fsb?

surely u can set multiplier to 10 and FSB set to 100 = 100x10=1000?

also when u try the 133 jumper u gotta lower the multiplier as well in the bios or by default it will be 10x133=1330 which it may not be able to run at stable.

try it at 8x133=1064 see if u can run it at that :p
