My accounts been closed by GoA :(

I dont know if any game masters read this, i know Kemor is one but he's probably busy with the patch coming up. My account has been closed by someone from when i tried to log in on monday the 13th of January at about 17:00. I havent received an email from anyone or anything. Ive checked my subscription and it is paid until the 19th of Jan so no probs there. I need help. I missing out on a fun and critical time to be playing and i cant AAARRGH. I've sent an email to subcriptions@goa.com and i will get a reply in 24hrs if i get one at all. All i want to know is a reason its been closed its doing my head in. I'm having to watch the tv and james bond was kinda crap although when Teri Hatcher gets her kit off was kinda good . I know you lot cant help me but i thought I'd let you know whats happening . blaen went to play his char and found they was all deleted :/
his had 1 of his chars remade atm , but has no money or epic armor
and he had near all crafted armor 100% , all gone ;/
now thats bad

If you give your account information to other members of your guild, friends, familly and your dog, you can be sure that your dog is going to go see his friends, give your account info and won't notice the stealthed cat in the corner, hearing everything.

Then someday, your dog, one of his friend or the cat will have a bad day, log onto your account and wipe everything...

If you share your account info, someday, something will go wrong...You can be 100% sure of that and it will be your own little fault...
We tried to warn you, many times. Heck, it's even against the CoC. If you still do it...

ps: Oh, and we DO spend time checking into such issue, but when you spend a looong time finding clues, evidences then suddenly realise that half the guild of the player had the account info...

but by basically letting people keep stolen items you are encouraging illegal (in the eyes of the law, not your CoC) activities: hacking

blaen here lost over 12 months of his time, and from what i have seen you have handled this very poorly indeed. sure, he should have changed his password, but the bottom line is it is not his fault someone hacked into someone elses comp and stole his items ingame - and yet you're willing to let a very dedicated player (and customer) slip because his account was once used by someone else.

i login to my daoc account from different IPs (from my partners house up in scotland, from friends houses around here in the midlands), it is not shared, but in IP login terms it may appear to you that it is. does that mean that, just because another IP has logged into my account, that if my password ever got stolen, and my items were deleted, you would not replace my items?

i would also like to say, that the items blaen lost are now in the possession of someone else - due to an out of game trade. i was under the impression that out of game trade of items was against the code of conduct. but you are letting this slide because blaens account was used by someone else a while ago?

the whole way this has been handled, the lack of information given to blaen (he found out more from the person you interrogated than from GOA), is pretty much a shambles. he's basically been treated like dirt because a close friend of his used his account for a day or two a long, long time ago. i agree, he should have changed his password, he shouldnt have given his password out. but it is far from his fault that someone broke the law to obtain his password, it's hardly his fault they logged in and traded his items to someone else.

the way GOA are handling this is basically encouraging people without a goa account atm, to hack accounts, steal everything on them, sell, trade or give the items out, and IF, and a big IF, the account concerned was ever "shared" in your eyes, you wont do anything about it.

Coming on here with some kind of condiscending attitude about cats and dogs, infront of your PAYING customers, is frankly appauling.

Blaen was wrong for giving his account out, but he is NOWHERE NEAR as wrong as the people ILLEGALLY breaking into his account, and the people trading his items out of game. It seems very unfair to me that someone is punished for others actions - frankly you could replace his items and cash quite easily, you just wont because of this clause in the CoC - which you dont even enforce anyway, otherwise his (and many other peoples accounts for that matter) would be already suspended.

I am personally VERY worried about the security of my own account after seeing how this was dealt with. I think anyone who logs into their own account from multiple IPs due to traveling could have this kind of CoC clause picking pushed on them when they urgently need GOAs help in times of need.

So with your way of viewing things, if someone shoplifted when they were 14, and they get beaten up badly when they are 16 they shouldn't get any money becouse they broke the law when they were 14?

You and your company just hide between the CoC whenever it fits you, if you really cared about the CoC you would do something about everyone using daox, and probably would have to ban 50% of the people for sharing accounts. And maybe you would do something about the fact that people sell accounts and trade back and forth all the time?

Better to just close your eyes, and bring up the CoC only when you wouldn't loose money by enforcing it, right?

I bet the guy that did this are probably still running around and spending blaens hardearned cash.

The message GOA are giving is, your account details are your responsibility. If someone hacks your PC or a friend's PC which has your details... etc, it's not their problem and they won't go out of their way to return your account.
