Ok, so what music from games do you remember? I mean, it's the only thing that doesn't go out of fashion....graphics get constantly better, gameplay is improved etc etc...

I love Hellmarch from Red Alert, and I've not heard anything quite as good for a long time.

Anyone got any others?

Actually, there's alot of OST's for games available. Most notably from my experience, the ones available on the Final Fantasy franchise (VII - IX), especially the Piano collections are pretty fucking good.

Fishermans Horizon is one which quickly sprang to mind.

Super Smash Brothers Melee orchestrated versions played by the Tokyo Philharmonic are superb.

The sound to Viewtiful Joe is great, especially the Hulk Davidson song.

The original C&C music was great.

"I'm a mechanical man!"

From amiga days, Gods - 'Into, the wonderful', Xenon 2: Megablast (Bomb the Bass I seem to recall) and didn't Betty Boo do the sound track to magic pockets?

Konami in the snes days beat everything hands down, their Castlevania soundtracks were great.

These days I love the crazy Eurobeat stuff in the japanese DDR releases.

The music from XIII is excellent... really cool jazzy stuff, great drums.

I haven't played a lot of the Final Fantasy games (just VII, VIII and X) but the music from VII really does kick arse at times.

Also the soundtrack of Darklight Conflict (old-ish space combat game) was fantastic. Anyone else remember that game?

The soundtracks to the Wipeout games are usually pretty awesome. 2097 and Fusion especially, lots of FSOL, Orbital, Plump DJ's, Fluke, BT and Chemical Brothers goodness.

Actually, if anyone knows where to get the complete soundtrack to Wipeout Fusion, I'd be seriously interested in obtaining a copy.

The Quake soundtrack by NIN fs. One of the first soundtracks to a game ever done by an established artist/group.

The Wipeout games, natch.

Secret of Mana.

Zelda: A link to the past.

Any of the 16bit Mario games.

I loved the Big Blue track music from F-Zero and the stuff from the opening level on StarWing/Fox.

I've got Big Blue as a midi ringtone :/

Pinball Dreams on the Amiga, absolute legendary music..

Project X on the Amiga, again.. legendary..

Various other games on the Amiga had some of the best music ever seen in games, ever.

Other more recent games that spring to mind, Carmageddon, Quake, Quake2, Doom, Doom II, C&C and even Red Alert all had memorable songs...
