I used to staff MPUK events until about i28 or so.
They're not the same style of events that they used to be. They've gone on record to say that pro gamers are their target audience now and casual gamers aren't directly catered for.
I prefer the smaller lans like Epic.LAN. I went to Epic.5 last month and it was great fun. One hall for pro gamers, one hall for casual gamers, all visible to each other. Combine fun tournaments, Big games, pub quiz, late night Werewolves and a good bunch of people and you have the makings of a good weekend. epic.LAN UK LAN Party
Usually go to the Summer i-series every year without fail. Though the smaller exhibition area every year is getting a bit annoying, as its nice to walk round for a break, remember a couple of years back they held it at Coventry and loads of companies were there with playable Demos and shows. Even had Gemma Atherton as EA were there promoting Red Alert 3.
But its a good laugh about 20 of us go every year from all over England and Europe and catch up with a few beers and gaming.
