lo,

Went to Bike2002 at the NEC this weekend gone and it was bloody cool. Saw some amazing shit and saw some world class riders doing their thang. Got some pics that I'll up soon.

And I'm getting me a new MTB this weekend. Whole thing should cost me 2 grand but I'm getting it for 400 from a friend :)

I'm not saying the bike looks shit or anything. It doesn't. It looks pretty cool really, but 2 grand???? For a push bike?

You could get a (crap) motor bike for that...or if you like the outdoor life, a trial bike.

Or a second hand car.

2 grand for a push bike???? You'd better be winning some serious competitions to make it worth your while, even if you're getting a bargin price of 400 for it!!!

I love my KLEIN Attitude Comp and it still has the best paint job out of any bike, even today.

BTW £2000 while sounding a lot isn't....you can buy frames for that much.

went to see it last night again and from what I remember this is the basic run down:

frame is 600
new hydraulic brake disc system was 250
front shocks were 180
tyres are 30 a piece
wheels were 200
new headset and stem 150
crankset was 150

and theres some other bits and pieces.

Should see his new bike! Bloody nice, if knight rider was a bike then it would be that. I'm not in it for the competitions btw :) I'm getting a bit fat for my BMX, been riding for a few years now and getting pissed off wiht the hills in Brighton. Need gears and I've been thinking of getting a new bike anyway so to get this kind of deal is a godsend. Seeing as I had a budget of around 500 anyway.

:D

This is a related question, seeing as we have some bike peeps here.

All I want is a decent bike to get me to work and back, can someone suggest a brand that is not too expensive (bike crime is high in London) but good quality.

Got a cheapo Peugeot thing at the moment and it 'alf makes me bum sore.

Didn't go this year :/ but i do still have a Jason McRoy Poster from Bike 98 (i think) signed by Steve Peat, Rob Warner, The Martyns and Will Longdon.

Didn't realise there were any Bike enthusiasts here :) Dunno if there are any DH MTB enthusiasts couldn't be arsed to read all the posts. Anyway, my claim to fame is 16th in the SAMS, and 9th (DH) and 12th (XC) in the Midlands Super Series.

Might see some of you at Fort William on June 1/2 for first DH and 4X World Cup Race.

And WP Kenny The Intense M1 DH Frame costs over £3000 just for the Frame.

Big DMR pedals all the way, spuds and straps are no good if you need to leap off real quick.

Whats the point of the Disc-Lock brakes, only a mate of mine got a new bike with V-Brakes a few years ago, a nice GT it was i think...but someone else rose it and was thrown over the handlebars by the brakes. Now, disc-locks are even more powerful are they not? So, dont you go 'arse over' when you use them? and why have such powerful brakes?

Not if you control how much you are pulling on the brakes and if you sit a little back to keep the weight over the back wheel. You can go arse over tit with any half working brakes if you just slap the anchors on.

Disk brakes are better than V-Brakes/Rim brakes because the disk is in the middle of the wheel so they perform almost as good in the wet as they do in the dry whereas rimbrakes get covered in shite. Secondly Most Disk brakes are Hydraulic (you can get hydro rim brakes but if you are spending that much you might aswell get disks) so there is almost no friction as opposed to cable pull brakes. Thirdly they look Sexxeh. But the main reason for getting them is that they are better in wet conditions.

Only drawback of Disks are that they are expensive. The Enduro 4's which are the Ds Bs would set you back about 450 quid (i think)

They are also quite heavy so most Cross Country Jays only use one on the front and a rim brake on the back where as most DH mosters will have 2 disks.
