MSN Messenger Service help

Grrrrr bludy MSN Messenger, log on 2day and my whole contact list been deleted, bludy hell. Same as a few of my friends. Ne1 able to shed some light on the subject? Wat happened, repairable? Advice needly badly please

1) See above and get ICQ.

2) MSN Messenger contact lists are stored on a central server (unlike ICQ for instanbce, where the data is on your PC).
I haven't logged in since it was down last night, but if it's gone, then its an MS server problem.

I have ICQ, but there r too many people i kno who r too stubborn to get ICQ. Ne1 have a solution yet?

Simply put, there isnt one.

Because the names are all on the M$ central server there is no copy of them at all on your PC.
I have just managed to log in and it is all there for me so it may only have been a small scale problem.

If they dont reappear soon you could try mailing tech support. Believe it or not, the one time I have ever mailed Microsoft (about something quite random) I did get an acknowledgement within 24 hours, so it may not be as desperate cause as you may think

Maybe try readding a few names and see if they stay there when you log out and in again.

Looks like MS are having big problems or something.

MSN has been hax0red or hacked, when they spotty, nerdy geeks stole all the passwords from the database about a week back they have been using them to delete lots and lots of accounts. Thankfully mine hasn't gone down, but a lot of my mates have:

I still wonder why the hell AOl havent merged ICQ & AIM.

Haven't ever used AIM, two IMs is enough pain - though one option would be "Tillion" (dont ask me for a website - other than suggest searching download.com) it isnt really finished yet - but if they mamange to implement it well, it allows you to connect to all the major IM servers through one program.

For messaging it is very nice. Has skins too.

However, doesnt have file transfers feature - even for MSN, so it's a case of "wait and see" if they can pull it off.
