MSN Messenger 6.1

can anyone help me pls

my msn 6.1 keeps logging me outta msn every 5mins, but the older version / msn explorer dosnt do that?

ive checked my fire wall and msn isnt blocked, can anyone help pls?

MSN can be and is rather patchy with regards to staying logged in. With the 6.x series I've found it takes an awful lot longer to log in, and that connections are dropped rather more often.

I've also found a couple of output bugs in 6.1, there's where whereby text can be misplaced in the output window and another where smilies do not get translated, and then appear at the end of the text. It didn't happen with 6.0, though I can't guarentee that this isn't a bug with MSN-Plus instead.

Do you run XP? (Or an O/S which has 'windows messenger' on by default?)

are you referring to the Windows 'Messenger' service? or Windows Messenger the app? Windows 'Messenger' service is on as default on ALL NT-based systems and has nothing to do with the transports used my MSN Messenger 4/6 and Windows Messenger 4.6/5/6b.

If you've got Windows Messenger running it shouldn't be able to interfere unless you've told it to also actively connect - but even then you wouldn't be told you were being disconnected, but instead see a popup saying you'd signed in at a different location.

My MSN Messenger 6.1 keeps trying to auto log in with an invalid e-mail account every time I open it. Which is odd.
