MS Teeth Kicked In

Not suprising, really as it's the most expensive console ever launched.

A console for tommorow rather than today, I think

considering many of the PS2 games, are only DC quality yet.

TBH if we were able to put them side by side on release day the MS offering would be better, another words MS offering on launch was actually better than SONYs launch.

Price of XB won't drop for a bit. They make quite a hefty loss already on each unit.

Depends which country you're reffering too. Plus no console tends to make money they tend to make it back through the games. I predict £100 off by July at the very latest.

PS2 only really started to shift, when it dropped to £199

I'm not sure it is a console, it has ethernet, hard disk.. mouse, keyboard (ok, maybe not that)

.. but it's started to sound like PC, so you could call it a high end PC component,

GeFORCE 4 Ti 4600 or X-BOX ? [Discuss]

PS2 launched at 300 and you will have to pay extra for the Ethernet and Hard Drive for that. Not that I'm complaining. I bought both consoles withing a couple of weeks of launch.

As a fanatical PC owner I find it hard to consider actually buying the X-Box, knowing full well any games would probably eventually become available in standard PC format anyway, and cheaper too.

My betting is the next big thing will be an "X-Box Card" :)

Well Microsoft will try as hard as they can to make any game on the x-box exclusive to the x-box so that they won't end up on the PC.

It would make sense for them to do that.

That may be the case in Microsoft published games like Halo, but for lots of other publishers it wouldn't make sense. For example look at Lucasarts "Starfighter" available on PC, X-Box and PS2.

It'll be so easy to port code from X-Box to PC most games developers will be foolish not to, actually it is more likely to be the other way round (a la "Championship Manager"), I'd admit there may well be a significant lead time in seeing PC versions tho.

I have to admit, that the thought of playing the latest fps on my wide-screen TV somewhat tempting. I know PC has TV OUT, but widescreen support for PC games is unlikely. Perfect dark has widecreen option :)

Fps' and consoles dont mix...

Until consoles get keyboards/mice, Fps' on consoles will sux0r....

But then getting keyboards/mice is kinda crossing the boundary between PC and Console....

Mouse & Keyboard is guaranteed to come out for X-BOX.

You can get a usb one's for PS2, to play half life of course.

BUT..

The whole point of buying a console is so you don't have to shell out for extra's, so unless you're loaded Fps' and consoles won't mix... , but still perfect dark r0x, in vertical split screen mode.

innovative new controller

i was thinking about this yesterday....

consoles have light guns.

consoles have those floaty steering wheels with motion sensors...

is it not about time that someone built a light gun with motion sensors... that would be the daddy for fps games...

and point b) it's a console, it goes with my telly... where the hell am i gonna put a mouse? how many of you actually put a table in front of your telly to use a keyboard and mouse on???

erm

well i couldn't point you towards MANY of them but i know the PS" and xboxen has them... lotus branded... like a hand held wheel, with no base... rotation/tilt sensors in it.... you just hold it in yours hands, like a wheel... in the air (prolly looking like a plank while doing so)... and er rotate it and shit...

it's a steering wheel ffs, you know how they work....

yep, I have seen them, thought it was just another steering wheel, I assume there are buttons to go foward & back, rather than tilting it foward & back, which is what you would need

Sounds perfect for Halo, drive the jeep with a steering-wheel, with a light gun to shoot stuff.. ;)

A better solution would be to have a joystick.. simple enough to move around.. and a light gun to look & sound around.

Any ideas if consoles are powerful to do this ...

M$ are marketing it as a games console.. when it's actually much more.. but insist on charging un-competitive prices.

I guess everyone wants it to fail, so we can pick it up for DC money ;)
