Its the silver and gray Mouse with a camera lens sensor (no ball) from Microsoft.

I got my hands on this new mouse for 2 weeks now and have been testing it out on quake. I decided to write a review about it.

Totally agree with your point about lifting & repositioning the mouse, I found it no problem at all, needs to be about 1cm above the pad. The mouse is actually lighter so lifting is not really a problem, I actually suspect the "big" design is to help with lifting it during gameplay.

I have only noticed one weird thing playing Quake2, sometimes the thing goes haywire and I end up looking straight up and spinning round and round, then it "calms down". Only lasts a couple of seconds at most but enough to cause a problem during a match. I haven't figured out what causes it as its only happened a few times.

The real benefit will come in about two months time when I don't have to clean the damn thing !

Other than that - excellent, and a nice review too.

the mouse going haywire thing is because you are scanning it across the mousepad too fast. Do it in Windows and you will see the same effect. It's a huge damn flaw with the thing.

Does this mean that anything I type here will get stuck on the end of the review?

One fault in your review.
You claimed that the design had a similar effect to that of an iMac...

You then went on to suggest that the mouse was quite good.

A small contracdiction?

anyhow, I intend to get of these here mice, mainly cause of the red light, but also cause the extra buttons will drive my Dad nuts....

Depends on your playing style, I do a lot of 180 flics, which I didn't realise until I tried one of these mice. I must flic too fast because the mouse cannot cope at all, it's like someone said earlier it seems to loose track and plays catch-up. Doing a quick 180 flic-fire-180 flic, when carrying the flag to take out those following you is impossible to do with this mouse, and for that reason alone I took it back - I now have a Logitech USB wheel-mouse which is the dbs IMHO...

I got an IntelliEye and found it works fine.

Turn the mouse sensetivity up in games to reduce the mouse movement needed for a 180 flick and you should not get suffer from the bug.

This aside not cleaning the mouse wheels twice a day is GREAT.

The technology has been around for years so why has no one done this yet.

Is Billy G just a torrent of good ideas??
