Moving "Documents and Settings"

Windows XP SP1. OEM install.

I've set up the new system to have all 6 users My Documents folders on a separate partition, keeping it free of the C:\ in case of a reinstall.

However, it doesn't like being moved about. The "Move Special Folders" bit in TweakUI doesn't move every reference to the documents folders so it's not ideal.

I'm tempted either to move it back, or move the entire documents and settings folder with all the user settings. This latter option is preferable.

Basically though the registry has hundreds of references to D&S for all kinds of things and I know it will break windows to move it.

So, is there a utility or method out there for moving it? Or do I have to give in and move it back again?

Cheers,

Ben.

I've followed these instructions to no avail. There are two problem factors that someone might know about?

(And yes, I know this is a Windows XP Home system rather than a 2k one)

Firstly, it wont let me move my own account to the new location (E:\Documents and Settings rather than C:\...).

Second, I modded the registry by exporting it, then openning notepad and doing find&replace for all "C:\Documents and Settings" entries with "E:\Documents and Settings".
I then merged it back in.

However, I restarted the computer and the registry has (mostly) reverted back to C:\ settings.

I am confused.

Can anyone shed some help on this? I'd rather not reinstall cause there's a lot of hastle involved with the family busy wanting to use the computer.

Thanks very much.

Well I've set up the system as best I can using TweakXP to move some of the system folders for each profile, sadly version 1.3 or whichever I used doesn't allow me to move the entire Docs & Settings folder.

However, it's set up reasonably smoothly, and all the shortcuts work so I'll live with it.
