Movies for kids ?

Lord of the Rings came in for some criticism because of its "very close" violation of the PG rating, I think it was the scene with the decapitation of the chief orc that did it, and earned it an additional warning in addition to the rating.

Surprizingly, AOtC did not get the same attention even though a decapitation occurs, that of Janga Fett to Mace Windu's lightsabre, coupled with the scene where the young Bobba picks it up.

Now, Spider-Man seems to have come under the same sort of criticism, being very close to violating its 12 rating.

But what must be the ultimate scare is the upcoming Powerpuff Girls Movie, which, believe it or not, has the same PG rating with "some material may not be suitable for children" warning as LotR !

Powerpuff Girls ? Unsuitable for Children !? Smegging Heck !!!

some councils are lowering the certificate to PG for Spiderman, so more kids can see it, even though it is nearly a 15 rating:rolleyes:

So what the hell rating was Watership Down, cos that film screwed me over for years. Those evil rabbits, and the poor rabbits being churned... I refuse to watch it to this day.

I saw "Critters" at the age of about 8, and had nightmares for a good year afterwards :/

The thing I can't understand with Spiderman (just caught this on the news yesterday so might be slightly wrong) - the BBFC awarded it a "12", because they thought it was too violent for a PG. But some individual cinemas have been worried about ticket sales, so they've changed the cert in that cinema to a PG? What on earth is the point in having a central certification board if cinemas can put whatever rating they please on it? It's like schools changing their pupils' A-Level results.

Well, it's their councils that have changed the film's rating - The first time a council's ever done such a thing, however there is a law that enables them to do it.

Does that mean we could get our councilers to uncensor hardcore pr0n films? :D

Heh, Critters was one of the first 'horror' movies I saw, too - I was about the same age. The only film I've ever had nightmares about and refuse to watch again though is 'Arachnophobia', for obvious reasons I suppose. Again, I was about 8, and had to switch off the TV at one scene. The large thick ones still scare the shit out of me if they get anywhere near me :/

Banging soundtrack, very stylishly animated, and with millions of injokes for adults, I don't understand why you could possibly say that, unless of course you are of the opinion that animation is for kids only.
