Movie editing and compression.

What do you moviemakers out there use for editing and compression? Movie maker seems pretty cool and easy to use not sure how to compress things with it though (if it can)

use Virtual Dub for compressing it, and if you have a lot of time to learn use Adobe Premiere for editting, but if you want something a bit easier to work with I'd sugest Sony Media Software's Vegas. At least I think that's what I used, it's been a while now...

Adobe Premier 6 with Hollywood Fx Gold is a great combination for editing. Also have Pinnacle studio 5 which is very good and easier to use than Premier.

I use the Panasonic mpeg encoder. Tried a few other but the Panasonic ones are very good. Sometimes use DivX to.
