[MOVIE] Armswoman chick flick

After i dusted off my armswoman after 1 years abscence from the battlefield, i decided to rekit her and give her a go in RvR. Further more i wanted to try and make a movie out of it and well, this is the result.

Bear in mind that these 15 mins is shot during 2 days with little activity but managed to get some decent fights, even though its mostly against stealthed opponents.

Due to lack of better hosts this is uploaded on filefront and might take an hour and a half to download:eek2:

I think the movie is great despite the "duellike" fights. Was running alongside Zareena during some of the fights and it was a slow night for soloers/duoers with the exception of quite a few stealth attacks.

Kinda love the ending aswell , hehe. Now Mythic gifv my very own NPC.

probably one of the most boring videos I have ever seen.

artificial shitduels with 6 resists, friar endbuff, battler and warguard if in trouble - doing the same routine over and over again, numb cripple slam dr dr dr dr dr dr dr dr dr dr until you either win or lose. and on top of that, every single thing on the quickbar is clicked by mouse while you are /stuck to the enemy, not even the slightest attempt to counterstrafe.

quality of the video was good tho, and i liked the music. my apologies if you don't like negative critism, but really, playstyle-wise its more entertaining to watch a bonedancer who has f8 /face instalifetap macro'd.

sorry, but it's the truth . and i fuckin hate seeing always peeps with all abilities/artifs/uses up... i mean gimme a brake!!!
i have ended up thinking twice before attacking a lowbie enemy cause it is 99% probable that he will have sth like... som/wh/phb/battler/di bot hidden somewhere/ up. a combat that would normally wouldn't even think of NOT engaging ends up with a dworf on the grass and a tard smiling!

what happened to peeps doing normal runs and not 1 every 15 mins?!

its a bit silly, all 1v1's,and you use battler+warguard every single time i think, even when theres no need, for example using it when pip already purged your numb is like a total waste

Never occured to you that there was so little activity that she couldn't get fights more often?

I was watching pretty much everytime and she was out there all the time, but people rarely popped her.

The days it was recorded the rvr activity was minimal.

And tbh, I see nothing about about dumping abilities if you want to win fights, especially when fighting rangers who most likely has WH/PD3+ and every other shit up.

Let people dump if they want to.

Judging from the replies i reckon u can split it into 2:

1) Those who rate the editing and moviemaking regardless off actual fights

and

2)Those who care more for quality of fights and how ur playstyle is.

I have to say im quite proud of this movie regarding editing and how the movie is built, which is what i focused on initially to learn how to make a movie.

Ofc the actual fights is the material i had at hand once i decided to make this movie, recorded over 2 days. But anyways i doubt they would have been alot different if i recorded because i wanted to make a movie, due to the fact that i almost always solo or duo, pretty much in albion.

Constructive criticism is welcomed even though it most likely wont change anything regarding my playstyle or how and where i choose to spend my ingame hours.

What surprises me a bit however is the fact that some expect u to spend hours on arti raids/leveling and ml raids to strenghten ur character, but during a fight ur not allowed to use ur charges/abilities?

Do some actually expect us not to use the benefits we have at hand (also regarding end buffs or buffs in general)?

Armsman is also a class with less "toys" than ur average class. I reckon a routine in ur playstyle is almost "forced" due to this, with referance to the Numb, Slam, Pole styles combinations. Am i to actually consider using my less efficient s/s when im specced pole?

Either u like the movie or not, its that simple So thanks for ur opinions people but take it for what it is: My first daoc movie ever playing a char i havent played for 1 year and having fun doing so.

the problem is not using abilities - it just gets really dull really quick if you constantly win fights without ever seeing a change in scenery, change in type of opponent, change in playstyle, or seeing any kind of challenge at all. there really is a huge difference between what you do ingame, and what you show to people in videos.

maybe my first post was a bit too harsh, don't want to disencourage you or anyone to make more videos, but i really recommend you to spend more time recording footage that's really worth showing to people.

clicking stuff on quickbar doesn't really make the footage less interesting but it would help your playstyle a lot if you start using the keyboard for it - can react much faster and so on. a lot of people improve their play after watching recordings from their own pov

why make a movie out of footage that is not top notch? if the footage is boring theres no point releasing a movie imo, you could just have you pveing mobs and get the same result. daoc movies are not "showing off editing skillz" type of movies imo but to show close fights, playstyle etc. like staj said in some other movie post, crap content in sugar coating is NOT fun to watch

I'm not putting her down, just saying investing a little time on recording more and better footage will do more good for the movie than 50 hours of hax0r-editing will ever do. content >>>> sugar coating.

and fyi i dont think theres anyone who goes around dissing everything, atleast i give negative or positive feedback depending what i thought of it personally i just like to see good playing instead of super-editing, mix of both is the best ofc

I doubt she intended the movie to be "all that".

From what I gathered she wanted to make a movie to see how it was done, and see if she could do it.

I doubt everybody's first movie was top notch, and it's her first try.

Why not just try to tell her that the editing was fairly good instead of slaughtering the movie in general.

I understand people giving constructive criticism, but it wasn't all that bad.

Sure, the fights could have been better, but like I said earlier, she just wanted to make a movie.

Playstyle also differs from person to person, it's not that easy to pick up a different playstyle after 4.5 years of playing.

imo when you make a movie you should gather a bit of content from a longer perioid of time, otherwise its just clips from one evening, theres a big difference between a real "movie" and just a series of clips. personally if i ever make a movie the content will be gathered over a longer perioid of time, have some editing and introduction etc, if its just some clips from a couple nights i wont go as far as to call it a 'movie'

not my intention to turn this thread into some negative discussion about what is right or wrong - but you need to realise making and releasing a video are two totally different things. public can be ruthless (or just dead honest), everyone who ever released a video will know this.

whether you like or dislike this, in the end you have to draw conclusions from every bit of critisism and use it to improve the next piece. if people get their feelings hurt by critisism, i would advise to put a few more disclaimers in the thread or keep it between friends and people who are interested

Havent watched the movie, as I generally don't like RvR movies, not even my own, I prefer the story/rolepay stuff.

But considering the replies here i'll say this much, if you make a movie, make it for yourself. Don't care what others say or think about it, just make a movie for your own enjoyment and satisfaction and take everything you read here with a pinch of salt.

Alot of people spend so much time worrying over every single point, spec, resist, rp and imperfect minute spent in daoc they lose touch with alot of the simple pleasures of the game, im guilty of this as much as anyone. So don't take it personally if people criticise your fights or playstyle.

Armsmen are not a 'flashy' class and have a limited range of abilities, we are good at what we do, which is straight out mundane melee without the thrills and trying to translate that into an entertaining video is never going to be easy and to be quite honest, some people here would never be satisfied unless your soloing a full group and even then they would whine about using to many timers.

Just take satisfaction in having created something, and the fun of having made it.

I thought the Mitsurugi armsman vid was one of the most entertaining DAoC movies ever made fyi.

not like 1 of ur videos with vodkafairy was better? remedy (when no other class had it ) + malice use + strafe strafe strafe ? nice critisism but not from the correct person, try again....
