mouse trouble help pls

hi all i have microsoft intellimouse explorer and i have windows xp,thing is everytime i play a game usually or surf the net or whatever it locks up for 10-20 seconds then goes normal as if i have pulled it from usb port and put back in its annoying anyone have any ideas what may be wrong?

when i am back at home after work i have more information to give u i think it may be my usb port i hope not :-(

It might be...I know one of my old VIA based mobos from MSI had the same problem with sudden stalls and jumps across the screen.

ive heard that XP does have a lot of Mouse Problems (USB?) a few people have said how it feels laggy when movin mouse around.

Could it be sensitivity?

Could it not be dodgy wiring in the mouse itself? I've heard of this happening.
