Mouse settings

I'm just trying to find out what people do for mouse sensitivity.
My favourite map is office and I always play with a very high sensitivity rate, which is great for running round corners but rubbish when it comes to aiming at things in the distance. Do most of you alter the sensitivity depending on what map it is or even what gun you're using?
It's just I know someone who prefers a low sensitivity setting and when playing on maps involving distance he beats me every time but when its in buildings I find it much easier to kill (tbh it could just be my eyesight)
Is it just a matter of finding what is the optimum for you

Not a very interesting post but any info would be great

personally m8, i dont think its worth it always changing your sensitivity and i've never heard of anyone actually doin it for every diff map!

I certainly dont, the best advice i could give u is to tweak the settings abit and keep testing untill u find the right level for you! then stick with it and you'll be fine!

I have a button bound which toggles the sensitivity.
Its very handy I find :)

In sewers etc. i'll set it very high, in open areas i'll set it low.
It cycles thru 5, 10, 15.
and echo's which its at.
Its fairly simple to do if you know rudimentary HL scripting.

yeah... I use 3.25 for all environments, I can't be bothered with changing it depending on scenario.

You can't really compare speeds, since your windows mouse speed, and mouse acceleration, all make a big difference.

With a default windows mouse setting my HL sens is about 3.5 - imo your better off keeping it low and learning to turn quicker. With a sens > 10 you can do a 360 rotation which is too far, theres no need to be able to go all the way around.

The one thing that did knacker my game for a bit was switching to an optical mouse - I had to learn to keep the mouse flat (although I do still end up looking at the ceiling if I try to turn too quick - I'm plannin on getting one of those duel optical buggers which should sort it).

How do I find out what number sensitivity i'm using? All I know of is a sliding bar which i have on about 2/3 the way along. I find it very useful to do a very fast 180' turn because if i'm not already dead after they've had the advantage i've got a fair chance of shooting them (sometimes).
I think I'll try with a lower sensitivity for a while and see what happens

Open config.cfg in your cstrike folder, it's in there somewhere.

(If you've never opened it before, use notepad)

oohh 13.8.......i'm guessing that's rather high
My lucky skill kill setting :)
Whilst i'm in config is there a way of getting my kills to appear in the centre screen rather than topright? I managed to get the target recognition into the centre but that was because I read how to do it somewhere

comming from a quake background, a flick of the rist should turn you 180 degrees. i used to play with a sens of 20 on my ms inteli explorer but recently i've trained my self to use a lower sens. i've got mwheelup bound to sensitivity 17 and mwheeldown to sensitivity 13. This way i can use the high sens for normal play and the lower one for when i'm using zoom on the aug and sig.

Originally I came from a quake background and was using the higher sensitivities, but tbh after playing cs at a lower rate for a while now I havent ventured above 10 in Q3 (which I do actually have different weapon sens settings for come to think of it - aint played in a while :)
