Mouse prob very unusual

Hello all

This may be the wrong forum (perhaps tech be more apt) but this problem only occurs with c.s. so I thought more people here would be able to help.....

Anyway when playing c.s. every now and then - perhaps for 2 or 3 sec every third game my mouse goes super laggy - what I mean is that if I move it to the left, the onscreen action is delayed by perhaps .5 or 1 sec and what with wiggling the mouse to sort it out you end up looking around like a noonen whos been let out for the first time. Makes you feel pished hich i don't normally mind but isn't ideal when you can hear 4 terrorists about to come round the corner.

It's an optical mouse but it's clean and dandy before you ask.

Anyhoo all help will be appreciated with a free kill for all responses.

Has this only just started to happen?

It sounds like the Mouse Sensitivity has been turned up in CS, if you go to Advanced in Configuration while in CS, turn the sensitivity down

or just type sensitivity x in the console

Are you certain that you don't have some program accessing your internet connection at the same time? Maybe a packet sniffer of some description.

hmm, perhaps we are blaming the mouse and its not the mouse.. perhaps its your graphics card? what is it?

Whats your FPS in CS? (Use Netgraph3 i think)

It only happens intermittently so its not sensitivity. And everything else runs super dooper. I am using windows 2000 pro so no firewalls i think and if i play half life (offline) etc then i get no probs. Might try playing half life online or something to see if its that.

using gforce 2 i think(no probs ever)

If you imagine that your mouse is attached to your online player with arubber band thats how it feels - but only for a few secs the rest of the time it is fine and i am leet its as tho you suddenly pick up some shit on yer ball - but no ball obviously.

I once had a program designed to intercept and record web streaming videos installed. It introduced a latency of about 1 second to my gaming.

It sounds to me like some system process, or program, is interfering with your internet connection in some way. Try removing all TSRs and such.

Erm try turning anti-aliasing off in your gfx card setting's, Right click on desktop then properties, then setting's, then advanced and go to the Nvidia tab and it's there somewhere and seeing as I know where u got the pc from its highly likely you need an up to date driver get the newest Detonator driver from www.nvidia.com

whats a TSR?

If i use control alt del task manager it shows no progs running but i dont think they show all that they used to.

Old terminology for programs which do not release memory after they are shut down

But the pc is very clean - i.e. not full of old shit and in any case how do you shut down a TSR (and find out if you've got one) - jeez this is gettin complicated

It sounds like the right track with it only happening now and then tho. But wouldnt that kind of thing just create lag or jerkin or summat - this symptom is still very smooth and clear like normal play. I can live with it, it just means i will be blaming all my deaths on it and I don't want to come across as a whiner

or sprayed by noob/fluky shot for ffs
or mouse lag ffs
etc ad nauseum

As used by uberleets who can't believe that they have been killed

I'm on adsl cable with ntl (USB, mmmm maybe i could try netork adapter??) and the mouse is optical thru normal outlet.

I really did have this problem, wasn't there a thread about it somewhere? Deffo anti-aliasing cause's problem's and I also changed something in the CS console, bah its the worst thing when your CS ain't right

only seen that happen when they were overloading their USB bandwidth.

if you got a USB printer, change it to parallel (or move it to another computer if you have one) and that'll solve many problems, especially after removing its drivers.

also uninstall that IntelliType software if you got it, i doubt you really do use those "multimedia buttons" along the top of it.

if all else fails, format and rebuild OS

Move your cable modem onto network adaptor as well, unless its a cheapo £10 card that uses your CPU for most of it, then invest in a proper 3com or intel card

edit: keep keyboards and mice off USB, they are more hassle than its worth!

I used to have a similar problem Lester, but I realised that it was only when there was smoke on screen. I don't suppose thats it, is it?

Turning smoke detail to minimum may just help.

heh, yip, its your FPS then when you run thru Smoke your FPS would drop to ooo aroun 15/25fps and it "feels" like your mouse to naffed
