I have found mice to be a question of personal taste more than "whats the best". I have used a ms mouse since day1 and still do, the shape fits my hands nicely etc.

If your really serious about getting a "gaming" mouse probably a razer boomslang is the "choice of the pros" (/me tries to stop laffing) but also some high end logitechs seem very popular.

Well my cordless logitech wheel fingiemehjig is quite leet, tho the ones with cords are undoubtedly better (coz this thing munches batteries :( )

MS mice are nice, but they felt too .... smooth for me, and I felt I didn't have a true grip on it for snap turns etc. tho as bifsta has said, its really personal taste.

Heh, the razer boomslang. Well. I've got one myself (after 3 years of logitechs) and now that I've got used to it, it's a great mouse. Loads of adjustment, 4 buttons and a wheel (5 buttons if u include the wheel-press), mega sensitivity adjustment and a really nice solid build quality. Far better than any other mouse I have tried.

If you don't like the idea of the Razer, the Logitech Wingman gaming mouse is a good one, but that said, they have just released a new range of optical mice which look very nice indeed. Check em out at www.logitech.com

Good luck,

I expect you've got one now, or if your anything like me, you would have gone mad by now from quake withdrawl symptoms.
I just thought I'd mention one thing;

I have always been a logitech man for years and never liked the MS mouse cos it was too big for comfort. Anyway, when the sliver explorer MS thingy came out with buttons on the side, I thought WOW! side buttons for weps and other binds, cool! Thing was, it was still too big! ......... im getting there, im getting there ........ :)
anyways ............. MS now have (and so do I :D ) a white version of the sliver one, with side buttons and all ....... AND it's much smaller! I was converted from logitech to MS instantly and love it! The movement is smoother, it's intellieye (no ball), so you can ditch the need for any mouse mat and all the buttons make wep switches an absolute dream.
Anyway ........ sorry for those who know all this, but I found it to be such an eye (pardon the pun! :) )openener that I had to meantion it for anyone who hasn't given it a go.
Pop into PC World and try one out. You will be surprised!

MICE!

TRUST ME ON THIS ONE DUDE, you have 2 choices:

1. Razor Boomslang 2000 and Everglide Giganta mouse pad
2. Microsoft Intellieye and Everglide Giganta

If your in the uk, get the everglide from http://www.everglide.co.uk or you end up paying a fortune in shipping.
It's all down to personal preference, but I personally don't bother with a mouse mat at all with my intelli-eye. Theres no mouse ball to roll, so I just use the whole desk :)

Can't speak for the everglide, but I've used a 3M Precise for my mouse for ages and it's the dogs. Haven't had to clean my mouse once since I got it... we're talking at least a year ago. Tracks perfectly, feels real smooth etc
