Most people don't change ships, basically you have one alt perma parked inside one of those.

Some people store them in super secret POS incase they are shared between corp/alliance members

some are also (allegedly) unpiloted in unprobably deepsafes deep inside various alliance territory. Personally - I wouldn't get a mothership unless I had a second account to keep it on. Then it would be logged off in a safe pos until such time as it was needed.

I wouldn't get a titan at all. I can't see the point in investing in a personal titan given the current game mechanics.

You either have a dedicated alt that just flies the titan or you eject your pod whilst the titan is in a POS.

easy enough to bump a titan away from the POS :)

External bumping through pos shields is allegedly not working anymore (never know with EVE though!)

Those kind of POS have super tight security, so fat chance you will ever see an unpiloted one lonely inside a POS if that scenario was even remotely realistic

How good would a carrier be against say, a fleet of 4-5 reasonably skilled battleships?

all depends on the fit and the quality of the bs & the fit and quality of the carrier pilot.

If you drop 5 sniper fit bs at 0 on a carrier then the carrier pilot is going to have a field day.

if you drop 5 well fitted RR BS with neuts on a carrier at 0 then it's touch and go as to how it will go.

gut feel is that it would rpobably be a stalemate.

I doubt 5 BS would have the dps to kill a carrier before it could log offski safely or deaggress and dock or cap them out and jump. A carrier might be able to break their RR though if it could cap out some of the repair chain. Most well fit carriers have faction smartbombs and neuts fitted so they can cap out tacklers, remove drones and gtfo should they need too

RR is a crappy "tank" and only favours inconsistent target calling in small engagements. In larger fleets the combined RR of all BS might be enough to tank another similar fleet if the opposition stick to the same target and the remote reppers rep the same target aswell

RR also has a very high cap need, dependent on cap injections. Eventually one will run out of 400 or 800 charges, then a frontline carrier would be able to kill atleast one BS. (other BS would probably have gone by then)
