OMG!!

Either you're just a little kid or a mature student!

You may be too young to moderate in a forum full of swearing.

Degrees however, are important so it's not sad when people kill themselves over that?

Qualifications aren't as important as you think. A good reference, and a confident manner at an interview, are worth just as much. It's not fair, but it's how things work.
Get a degree though, and all these 'trainee managment schemes' and stuff like that become options i.e start at 25k instead of 12k.

Death is never a good thing...

BUT

well done to the young sprouts out there who got what they wanted in their results, and even if you're sitting there and you didn't. You can always use the next few years to re-take the important ones :)

...stay happy

I don't imagine degrees give you much more than a foot in the door. but it's worth it

Exactly - qualifactions are something to help get a job (for those with good results) but they aren't the be all and end all (for those less fortunate)

Degree or not, you still have to start at the bottom since you lack experience and tbh I've seen some right fucking morons get degrees.

I'd imagine that there are less rungs on the ladder of success for someone who has a degree. You start at the same place as someone without, but getting to the top is faster

(probably)

I'd disagree a little. I'd say a degree starts you off a little higher up the ladder but everyone climbs only through experience, commitment and flair.

Yeaah, Someguy is right. A degree lets you skip the first few rungs.

and people spend so long on the degree that peeps without have climbed the first few already.

While my mates go off to uni for the last two years, I took a year off and now on my way in the IT environment which isn't bad since I started as a Warehouse bloke

I had 2 'FINAL' warnings. I expected them to say that the 2nd one was REALLY final. Much more final the the one before :D

Never went to more than 10% of my lectures tho and still never got kicked out. Still, that's Philosophy degrees for you.

I remember in the toilets on the bottom floor of the main Arts building someone had written on the wall by the bogroll dispenser "Arts Degrees. Please take one."

Probably been done before but it amused me :D
