I'm about to totally remodel my bathroom (previous owner's cheap shithole), totally. Everything is coming out. I want to put some nice original stuff back in, along these lines:

http://www.thomas-crapper.com/WCSets.htm (the tallest one)
http://www.bathroomsbysolutions.co.uk/prods.asp?deptid=1&parentcat=1&catid=36#120
http://www.harrybates.co.uk/de_lazlo.htm (add the sink and bog above, maybe tiled walls, and this is close)

That kind of stuff. Anyway, has anybody here got a roll-top bath with a shower in it? I don't think I'll have enough room for a separate shower cubicle, the room is only 7'6'' square, so I want to put a shower curtain into the bath like these old pictures show

Are shower curtains difficult to keep clean? Can you get weighted ones or ones that have stiff vertical bits to keep them away from your body?

/edit: If anyone knows where I can get a bath like this for cheap, let me know :D

you could try your local reclaimers

however it might involve a bit of work cleaning up the bath or any other items you might purchase

Shower curtains generally arn't too hard to keep clean, as long as you leave them spread out (in the water blocking position) rather than gathered up at the end out of the way. They'll tend to try fairly fast = no mould.
Our shower curtain has a string type thing with weights in it every CM or so, think a long thing mini intestine with lots of weights going through it.
Just one through, if you have problems with the tub being narrow, you could (assuming your tub is magnetic) use magnets around the top to hold the material against the bath.

If you get one of those shower curtains you linked to then if bully karate boys beat you up you could wear it to the school dance so they won't be able to see you ;)

Won't the floor need reinforcing with a bath like that? I'm guessing that would be pretty heavy...

Nah, not in an old house. The timbers are pretty big in my house.

Had a chat with my mate's father in law today, whos a brilliant plumber.

Thats probably going to be the suite, except the bog will have an eye-level cistern and a pull chain. Change the room colours to muted green with white skirting (side of bath will be green), with a stained reclaimed oak floorboard floor. Stick a chromed reclaimed heated towel rail on the wall. Add a chrome circular shower curtain above the bath, and push it against the wall, and thats pretty much it :)

I'm not looking forward to being without a bathroom for a week though :eek6:
