right,

The last couple of threads got me thinking abit,
so whats peoples take on this:

Is it ok to "project" your personal set morals onto others ?
is ok to expect others to adopt to your set of morals, or maybe rather i should say, is ok to try and change another persons morals, and if so what would you deem accepteble and not accepteble ? where lies the line between
campaining for, and forcing morals onto others ?

ok didnt quite get the words out that i was looking for, but you get the general idea....

bring on the debate,
oh and lets try keep it sober, like in the other threads have been today.

I guess the question your really asking is along the lines of: If the doctors morals in the blood transfusion scenario wouldn't let him stand by and let someone die while he had the ability to save them, should he be forced to abandon those morals because the person ticked a box on a piece of paper?

well not really that "case" specific no,

but sure, if you turn it into should the doctor breach the patients belifes and moral settings as not to class with his own then your on the right track.

as in which takes presidance?
and is ok to undermine hmm lets say scientific progress due to say "religiouse morals" ? stem cell research ect.
the list really goes on and on, but the basicly the last 4-5 big threads here have been basicly a question of moral belifes.

sexuality, religion, medicine, life styles ect

the way you set it up is very argumentative and one sided.

The problem is that there's no point at which the line can be drawn. Which side of any clash like that takes precedence will vary entirely depending on who you ask and what their beliefs are.
Normally it always comes down to 2 clashing beliefs in one person, in the above example it would be the doctors belief that he should save a life against his belief that he should respect the wishes of the patient.

In this case the law states that the wishes of the patient are more important. For everyone the line is going to be in a different place. In most of these cases you can't "project your morals onto the other person", you can make out how important your morals are to you, which might change the other persons view of how important for example respecting the wishes of the patient becomes in the doctor.

depending on who you ask and what their beliefs are.

thats exactly what I'm doing, I dont care what individual laws say,
I already know that. I'm asking people what they think. I'm not asking whats what, or who's "right" or "wrong".

I'm asking what peoples opions are on how to approach morals if you will.

dont think you've really caught my line of thought here

there is a right and a wrong in some scenarios, in these cases I think it's acceptable to at least expect certain morals

where the decision isn't so black and white and it becomes debatable, this is where one must respect others morals if it is their situation

your question, questions where the grey line begins and ends depending on the person, its a bit of a cheaty question :(

Christianity and Christians, as with all religions, have been pressing their morals on people for thousands of years.

Bullsh*t really, not ALL and not ALL members either. And comparing christians to all religions is another piece of bull.

About pushing morals, no, it's not right, it's butting in and people should keep their moral values to themselves.

I'm fed up(as is the term), with the laws and moral standards of men already. silly rules which have no basis really.

Well in order to establish an envoironment (community) wich offers stability and security, the majority will have to enforce their morals onto others wont they?

Right, nevermind. Guess an answer or some conversation was too much to ask for.
