Monitors

Ok, story goes:

My current monitor is rather old and cack.
I want a new one.
I want it to fit on my desk, so 17" is probably about my maximum.
I don't want to spend an absolute mint, so a TFT is out.

From what I've read on reviews and such, the Iiyama 413 is good, but a tad pricey.

Any suggestions?

Cannot remember the model number

But the 17" iiyama before the 413 was about the best monitor I've ever used. I got the 452, the 19" version of it, and it wasn't a patch on it. I'd look about Ebay see if you can find one.
Infact, so am I, would make a nice lan party monitor.

Value for money has to be the Hansol range. Youll pick up a new 17 incher for about 130 squids. Ive used one for three years now and ive seen the more expensive ones and to be honest they arent worth the extra cost unless you can afford it.

Hansol are bloody brilliant when you invest in their D range

I used to have a Hansol 710A (17") until my father got it, excellent cost price monitor and all rounder.

i'd save up for the lovely 710D model, its a flat monitor with a lot of goodness to it for a 17"

Features:
  • 17" tube (16" viewable area)
  • 0.25mm dot pitch
  • Maximum Resolution 1600 x 1200 @ 75Hz
  • Optimum Resolution 1280 x 1024 @ 85Hz
  • Plug and Play Compatible under Windows
  • 3 years warranty in all EU countries

If you can find someone who sells them you are sorted (the 710D, not the A model!) but they are a bit rare to find!
the only real stockest I could find was Computastore in Belfast (oh, how handy! :p) at £145 and they deliver to the UK as well.

WOw insane.

That looks a decent monitor for that price.

16" viewable screen.
25 dot pitch

Silly Question Time.

Does the monitor really make that much difference? I have a VGA 17" monitor that I blagged...erm borrowed permanently from work.

Good enough - but could it be better?

Not that fuzzy pic again! :)

The GF4 comes with dual video out but one is a digital output, I remember that you could get converters to convert them back to Analogue, anyone know were I can get one?

Thanks

Dabs do one. I got one from there a while back. Cost about a tenner IIRC.

AOC monitors are reasonable for the price

17" from 99 squid
19" from 144 squid

Try here for prices

People slag off AOC for some reason , but i like them, they also come with a three year on site warranty

Always had Iiyama since i progressed passed 14".

Currently have a vision master pro 410 17" on the spare PC and a vision master pro 450 19" on my main PC. Both monitors are crystal clear and stable.

Accept no substitute, Iiyama is teh dad.

looks good to me. I'd do a quick checkup on service for discontinued models though.
