Ok so I renistalled daoc after an 18 month lay off, buying both catacombs & darkness rising expansion...
My problem is I'm having random monitor blackouts, It can happen after 15 minutes or 4 hours & seems to only occur whilst playing daoc..the PC doesn't crash as my toon remains ingame, as I can hear the game still playing through my speakers!!
My system spec is

Athlon 64 3500+
Sapphire X800 Pro
1.5 gig pc 2100
BenQ FP931 19" LCD

Almost sounds like it's powering off - like when you're inactive for extended peroids of time. Try switch off power saving.
Right click on desktop > Properties > Screen Saver > Power > Turn off Monitor > Set to Never

Ah well monitor still died, even after altering the monitor power saving, checking my dx & gfx drivers (both at most recent)

Its just does this with daoc..

When it happens can you press ALT-TAB and get into Windows desktop?

Ok thought I had the most recent ATI drivers, but I hadn't..unistalled the old drivers..Installed the new ones &...Wont even blinking load up, getting an error message

game.dll Aplication error,

The application failed to iniialize properly (0xc0000005) Click ok to terminate the application.

Heck don't tell me my gxf card is on the blink :(

Hopefully not.

I had to send back a Sapphire x1600 because it wasn't compatible with DAoC though - whenever I used a porter the PC would just go black and reset, with a serious WinStop error on reboot so maybe it's that but I think the odds are pretty remote.

Sounds like bad driver installation.... should be able to use the ATI uninstall utility in add/remove progs but moreover there's a nice little util that makes sure they've gone called Driver Cleaner ( which you can get here )http://www.drivercleaner.net/.
It's fairly intuitive to use - just have it remove remaining traces of ATI drivers.

Then try download and install them again. If that fails, remove them alllll again and use the on CD drivers and see what we get.

I'm really beginning to think Mythic aren't bothering to add much support for the X**** range of ATI cards. Seeing a lot of problems with them.

Yeah its almost certainly not the gxf card, I loaded up both SWG & EQ2, they both worked perfectly..

I used the ATI unistaller from add/remove programs, I think I have drivercleaner on my main PC (which I use a 7800GT & daoc runs like a dream)
I recall having issues before with daoc, when I used my 9800 pro..

Shame really that DAoC and ATI didn't mix for me. The game ran and looked lovely on my x1600 - cept when it was blowing up the PC and stuff. :)
Looks ok on my 6800 XT but not as good - but it works perfectly.

Both my 9700 pros, my 9800 pro, my 9800 pro 256, my X800XL and my X1800XL all worked 100% perfectly fine with daoc.

So really its not down to ATi being incompatible with daoc, is it? It has to be something else :)

Try turning off VPU recover in Catalyst control centre, see what happens, maybe you will get artefacts.

Sorry, I should have been more specific - I meant Sapphire Radeon's. There's literally 100s of posts around the 'net about them. :)

Not all of sapphires ATi cards are borked though of course, consider the hundreds of thousands of cards Sapphire have produced, compared with the number of people complaining.

Oh and btw 4 of my 7 ATi cards are sapphire and all work fine.

PS. I work in the industry and have had dealings with thousands of systems with Sapphire cards in :) Admitadly, certain models do have issues, the X800 Pro wasnt one particularly infamous for problems, at least, not anywhere near as much as the 9800SE 256

We're getting OT I guess but no ofc not - Just pointing out that DAoC and Sapphire ATI's tend to clash more than any card I know of, which just might be why it's only DAoC going tits up - like with my X1600 working 100% for 10 days without even being shut down, then as soon as I logged into Camelot and used a porter it was guaranteed to crash Windows with a STOP error, PMemory dump and reboot.

Any luck yet?

TBH I have suffered nothing but probs with ATI, I am looking to buy a new GFX card but Nvidia based.

For the budget win I still love the old 6600GT.

Not sure what to get though?
Gonna try and completely re-install the drivers one more time.

Will a clean re-install of DAoC help?
