Monaco GP

OK I know it's full of glitz, and is pure PR gold for the teams. The circuit is fairly challenging for the drivers and cars, and everyone involved thinks its the[/] race to win. However... I did not see a single overtaking move the whole race, the circuit is shit from a TV spectators point of view.
There used to be overtaking at the end of the tunnel, the hairpin, and last corner before the Pits, now nothing.
At least MS only came third.

Monaco sucked this year.

Monaco is only good when less than 6 people finish so some bloke who's crashed gets points.

I disagree - we all know that every year no-one passes anyone on the track at Monaco but every single year (for everyone I know at least) Monaco's a riveting grand prix - a massive tactical challenge.. MS getting to 3rd place was quite remarkable in itself considering....

It's also not indicative of any of the other races in the calendar where there are overtaking maneuvers.

Also - a lot of it boils down to what you want from a motor race. For me F1 is both a tactical aswell as a racing challenge and I can appreciate the sport from either (and both) sides of the spectrum.

On the other side - touring cars and their ilk bore me ........ it's down to taste really.

GP bashing has become trendy (mainly in this country) since MS started his dominating run - but frankly he won't last forever and I think there's plenty happening in the races anyway to keep things interesting :)

MS has a while too go yet I think :)
The point is that it is a very challenging track, no doubt, but it's not a TV spectator track. Being there I'm sure is very different as you would be able to smell the cars you are so close.
The only position changes happened in the pits, which happens at other GPs, but not exclusively.
I'm a fan, and will continue to watch, I even watched all the races last season, which wasn't easy :/ We've seen the rule changes have made a difference, and it is more entertaining, but Monaco is not as good as it used to be.

On a side note, those that saw the Eddie Irvine interview will understand that I hate him! :) /jealous

Monaco is overrated. There is nothing to do there, you have to goto Menton to find good restaurants and bars. You could go to Stars and Bars, but then you'd be paying £50 for 4 beers. You could have breakfast in the habour, but that would set you back £500 each.

You know they put huge opaque nets up in the hills, so that the locals and other people can't look down and watch the race without paying? That's why most of the locals just close up and leave for the week.

They have also ruined Ras Cas. It used to be the corner for wrecking rear suspension, now its just another lame corner. Idiots.

bring back slick tyres, ABS and proper gearsticks(no automatic crap) and we'll be sorted.

With traction control, pit radio, automatic gears what skill does the driver need? what next? automatic steering

And if the race gets borin then just get a few marshalls to chuck a few buckets of water on the track ;)

These will be removed for the start of the next season, pit radio is gonna be one way only, as is telemetry.

How's ABS gonna help??? Easy breaking for muppets is a good thing??

I agree with losing traction control, automatic shifting and with making telemetry only one way.

I'm not so sure about making the radio one way only however, as I don't see how this benefits the sport and only serves to hamper the driver for no good reason.
