Since UO/DAOC/WoW everything has been pretty much a huge let down so far.

Age of Conan

WAR

The 2 BIG games to combat WoW have pretty much fell flat on their faces due to be released too early in a horrible mess with features promised missing on release.

I just struggle to pick a MMORPG out of what is coming out to get really excited about.

Aion looks ok but i don't see the point in wings if you can rarely use them so why bother at all heh?

StarWars - Bioware have a brilliant record when it comes to single player RPG's but i feel StarWars is too big of a universe to pull off for anyone to do.

I feel the genre is very stale it seems everything has been done and everything coming out is a clone.

Anyone else struggle to find a good one these days?

yeah, but thats probably due to me getting older and cant find the same satisfaction in mashing random keys as i used to.

finding myself drifting away from games in general more and more because they just dont give me anything anymore. and thats probably the worst thing u can do to a MMO, expect it to give you anything back. finding that MMO's are like a good looking lover, great early satisfaction but in the long run its just a money sucking bitch.

i'l try most of the mmo's that will release i bet, but i dont have any hopes that any of them will actually hook me to the point where i'l stay for more then half a year. having my last serious shot with DaoC US atm hoping that i'l find some of the love for the game i had 5 years ago.

only 1 game that i'm actually dying to play atm and thats the new mechwarrior. mostly because its something different from the other shitgames out there.

May I suggest Daoc US? they're making a supercluster, where just about all servers are getting clustered, so there'll be 3000+ players :) You can join me on mid you'd like. I started not long ago.

Daoc/SI/ToA/Catacombs are all free.

I wouldn't play with TOA ;/

I would like it just either pre SI or DAOC+SI.

dont get why ppl are so anti ToA these days, its not like ppl actually have to go there now other then for ML raids, and from what i've heard theres plenty of those going. so getting ML10 shouldn't take more then a few runs. and arties ppl get with BP's, and everything else can be done with rvr'ing.

dont even have to pve to level arties anymore....

i mean, its so scewed towards rvr now that anything better then this would have to be insta lvl 50 RR5 with every artie, ML and CL at 10...

oh wait, theres the crap freeshards for that....

Shame, DAoC is still a lot of fun and probably the only pvp game worth playing atm if your not into warhammer.

Well Daoc changed a lot we started over on Alb/Devon cluster Toa is not a grind anymore,ML raids there take place practically every weekend and is done within a few hours and all can be done by FG anyway.

Arties very easy to do and practically every arti is soloable and there no need for farming scrolls as there many a person who will buy the books with they BP's.

As for RvR well we decided on stealth group while playing Alb and tbh in last month we levelled 50 /Arti'd/ML'd and got templated and now practically all RR6 within a month.

For Dragon items Alb dragon can be done very easily we been doing it as a guild group just for items for temp and dragon quests are very easily done + people are still levelling and grouping unheard of in last few years on Dyvet lol.

That where you be wrong, the servers on all 3 realms have X eu players just ask in /region chat and you be surprised on who will help either with guild or with any thing you need.

Soul is right :) There's a thread here for DAOC EU guilds on the USa servers.

https://forums.freddyshouse.com/general-discussion-18/236996-active-devon-guilds.html

Arties can be duo/trio'ed, Master level BG 1-9 is only like 3 hour raid including breakes(which can be started at level 40). You can get arties at lvl 45 so by the time your 50 they will be level 10.

And tbh starting now or when the new super cluster hits would be good timing as they will be alot of classic people needing the same things you will :)

I've started playing lord of the rings online and I have to say I'm a bit impressed with it.

it has a real daoc feel to it (imo) and the monsterplay is a bit of a giggle.

I don't know how it will last longevity wise but it's certainly good fun right now.

FFIV is gonna be awesome.
They're taking away the retard bad levelling grind and keeping everything that made FF11 awesome.

The BEST bit about FF11 was the enhanced socialness of the servers.
You can play all classes on the same character via the jobswitch system ( only available in towns ), which meant common classes had a lot of armour overlap and you could have a bunch of mage jobs and a lot of the same gear would be useful. ( Because you only needed 1 character to do everything - everyone knew each other and it meant REPUTATION of your character was important - if you were a little cockstain the entire server knew it and you were fucked ).

They also had a ton of events so you were never stuck with raiding or pvp being the prime driver of the game, you could do merit parties ( to gain abilities/attributes on top of your levels ), and 20 different events of awesomeness ranging from 30 minute time attacks with bosses to 4 hour slogs and everything in between.

FFIV is basically FF11 but without PS1/xbox360 restrictions that kept them from "rebooting" it and doing all the cool shit they couldnt do without breaking ps1/360 support.

I'm sure the PS2/360 subs give a decent amount of money to the game, pretty retarded tbh.

You don't need a group of people to get anything done in DAOC all you need to do is join one of the many pugs or ML runs, you can buy plats cheaply too. Mythic don't seem to care about gold buying any more either.

It makes good sense actually.

FF11 first came out for PS, then PC ( 1year gap ) then xbox360 ( 1-2 year gap ).

They will bring FF14 out I hope on PS3/PC simultaneously ( And I hope jp/eu/na simultaneously as well but meh ).

Simply put why redevelop FF11 for the PS3 when they can develop FF14 for the same money ( FF14 uses Crystal Tools so it's portable ) and have a new MMO and when the next generation of consoles comes out they'll have an established MMO for it as well.

Also FF11 had run into a wall years ago of what they could do given that the PS2/xbox360/PC experience had to be equal - they couldn't do half the things they wanted to do.

Also FF11 was total spaghetti code, the way the game was handled was terrible ( how "instances" were handled for example was non-instanced, it was Scripted and there were 5 areas on the map you teleported to and teleported from once it was done ).

Gates were in two locations and "switched" so when you hacked the draw distance you would see gates flying in the sky when they were opened on the ground and such :p

Also - I dont think the FF11 subscribers will necessarily leave - I think a lot will play both games.
