ML8.3 encounter, a question

We did this encounter yesterday, but most likely Ibn got killed by a theurg pet, so we didn't get credit.

At a later try, we got the chat bug, which is still present on the server and we called the raid off till a later time.

My question is, that I have seen Ibn go down fairly easy at last 2 previous public ML8 raids, and my question is how to get this bugger down without him splitting up. This seemed to happen a lot last night.

Thx for any replies.

iirc...

You shouldn't use cold or heat legendary weapons. I believe they make him split. Use sun swords fine though.

If he splits, just kite them (depending how big your zerg is), as you can't kill him like this. I believe they die after a while.

Pets do not stop you from getting credit, see the note nelow from the latest camelot herald grab bag

I need to get this question cleared up because I'm getting mixed answers. Can a pet make a raid not get credit if it gets the last hit on a ML or Artifact raid mob?

A: No. That’s the short answer. Long answer:

- A monster that has been confused can steal credit on an encounter if the monster gets the killing blow. (Confused creatures will attack other monsters.) This used to happen a lot on dragon raids, so most players above a certain level remember it clearly. The problem is that the confused monster isn’t and can’t be linked to a player the way a pet is, so the server doesn’t realize that the actions of a human player led to the death of the computer generated target.

- There was a bug with TOA, where encounter targets that died to a particular kind of weapon proc damage would not award credit. It took what felt like forever to figure out the common cause. Since most raids do employ pets as supplemental damage dealers, it was thought for some time that the pets were the culprits.

So the convergence of those two facts, combined with the fact that pets do take some experience, may have led to the rumors that the pets steal encounter credit. Rest assured that they do not.

It splits due to melee attacks. Simple solution is have melee classes stay out the way. Allegedly legendary weapons dont cause a problem but Id rather not chance it - or trust people to be paying enough attention to use the right weapons ;) Shield tanks can of course guard casters.

Theurgs spam LOW LEVEL pets that wont have any chance of hitting Ibn: level 7 earth pets are ideal. They still increase the to-hit bonus the same as level 50 pets would.

When petspam is up casters nuke it down. Simple - hopefully :p But trying to do anything with the current chat/group bugs is a total total pain :(

Everything can make it split.

Just have tanks stay off it, have theurgs spam him and casters nuke him.

Will split a couple of times most likely (depending on raid size), but will go down easy.
