Missing mousey

For some perculiar reason, my mouse (MS optical USB) keeps powering down intermittently.
Sometimes it will be when I open a cd tray, others when I quit a program. It seems pretty random.

Any ideas, Im wondering if its a USB problem, but Ive tried 4 different ports all with the same annoying result.

Any ideas??

Does this happen at all while your Offline? Or always Online?

heh that sounds very dodgy that, you have a Firewall up n runnin?

Installed any "Software" recently, which may be a Trojan?

My g'friend had the same prob with her MS optical mouse so she called the MS support line and they said it was knackered. MS said they would send her a new 1 and also a pre paid package to return the old 1.

Ive rung MS, and theyre sending me a new one. Dont even want the old one back.

Someone I know periodically changes his mouse by saying it's broken, MS don't mind at all it seems. I've not done it myself yet, maybe I should try because the buttons on mine are getting worn down ever so slightly(!).

And also, every now and then, Mouse1 gets "jammed" here when i fire so my Gun sprays madly all over the place :/
