Seeing this post made me decide to finally get round to installing irc, just one thing though. I seem to remember it was a good idea to hide your IP address (i think belorfyn commented about it over a year ago) is this still the case, and if so how do i do it?

just type this: /mode $me +x

The best way is to auth with Q ( http://www.quakenet.org/faq/faq.php?c=1&f=51#51 )

Then before joining any channel use the /mode yournick +x

then your hostmask will be yourname@yourauth.quakenet.org and you cant be /dns'd for your own hostmask or ip.
