bit i havn't got it or have i had the lower one
does any body know when we are supposed to get or when we are supposed to have had it

i have read all the latest patch notes and it does not appear to be on any of them....

patch 1.51 (iirc), we don't have it yet. It's junk anyway - 5s cast time, huge power cost, and short duration.

funny, i've heard it was short duration and so on, and the rest is definitely true, but if the flute duration bonus applies to the AE as it does to the single - duration couldn't really be all that bad.

you dont use a flute for the AOE mezz, you just cast it

I thought that it was an instant cast ???
but was on something like a couple of minutes timer

No flute bonus, no instant cast.
You stand there for 5 seconds motionless (yeah right) and get at best a 30 second mez for 57(!!) power points. To give this a little perspective, Major Cacophany the level 44 DD is 55 power points and that sucks the mana up so fast it's silly.

bummer still even with power drian i can see it coming in really handy when soloing

Soloing you're better off with a flute mez, if you're pulling enough mobs to need AE, best off running.
If it were a 3s cast like pretty much every other castable mez in the game it'd be somewhat useful (the power can be regenned fairly quickly with serenity/ps/MCL). But you're far far too likely to get interrupted with the 5s cast as everyone else can cast faster than you.

but take this for example
the other day i had a yell hound (yellow to me) as a pet and i started to attack the tomb raiders

i got one started to attack it with the pet
then three including the commander turned up (i had full power and that green stuff)
now they all started to attack the pet wich the finished off in about 6 seconds
of course i started to run with endurance on got out my drum and started to play the speed song but the caught me (that and a balisk stunning me from about 15 miles away)

but i would have been able to save my life if i had had the ae mezz, due to the fact that i would have been able to mezz them all. The pet then would have unmzzed one of them and probably got killed.. but i would have been able to charm the commander, after the pet died and then would only have had three foes to contend with which i could have managed......
(with one of them nearly dead so therefore only two really...)

as it was i died...

i know that but in the situation above my pet was being ganked and i wasn't so i would have had time to cast it and that would have given me chance to legg it, as it was i died.
