Minstrel TOA SC Guidlines

Hey ho...

Currently working on a slash mincer template, and being one of the hardest to cap, thought I'd ask a few pieces of advice on here.

Artis to be used: GoV, Battler, SoM, Scalars, Croc ring(?), Ring of Dances(?)

Dex - as slash is purely strength, and dex therefore only affecting block rate (tiny anyway), how useful is it? I assume this is the least vital stat to cap.

Instruments - in group and solo RVR, pets are not used a great deal, so with realm rank, that doesn't bother me greatly. However, with 50 instruments base, how much will +instruments affect shout damage, or mez?

Resists - every resist is important, but if a few have to be undercapped in order to satisfy other criteria, which ones to lose?

Note that this is mainly a solo mincer template above group play.

Any current finalised templates you have will be welcomed, especially to increase the bandwidth of the mincer items I have as options.

what most ppl forget is if u pick any arti weap/shield ur resists from it go down when u wield drum (wich is most of the time)
i made my own minstrel template with
battler
cyclops shield
sun belt
croc ring
maddening
som
ceremonial bracer
all resist capped even if drum is wielded
11slash 3 stealth 0 instru
3stealth because i group 95% of the time

When you go from drum to S+S ull lose 40 hits, unless you have overcapped it to compensate.

Afaik, instrument spec above 50 adds around 1 dmg for each point in instruments (according to the minstrels in the US who have the benefit of a test server to try these things out). I don't believe instrument spec above 50 effects mezz in anyway.

Dex for a slash minstrel is only really used for reducing cast time on de-mezz, so if you're not a group minstrel, it's not as important as capping QUI or resists.

Not sure about which resists are least important, it would depend on who your main targets are going to be.

That template looks very similiar to mine.

Only difference seems to be my quickness and charisma is capped, with matter and energy a little under, whereas his is the other way round.

Ah, and his 40 extra hits replaced by my 30AF.

Both pretty similar, might poke around and finish this bad boy off.

I have spend numorous hours on this also. I have eventually coem up with 1 template for solo and 1 for groups.

The solo would favor:
inst
str (im slash)
dex (block and faster AOE mezz)
qui
con
cha
+hit cap
hit
melee resist
slash

Those are maxed before any resist. From the resist I focus on body and heat first. Then matter fromt he DOT charges.

As Ive got SoM also I wield a MP drum with +8 stealth - hence I dont need it on my armor.

(regarding the qui: did the math - for approx. +50 qui i got 6-9% more melee dam output when styling in 10-20 sec. This holds independent of capped dex/qui and haste buffs)

My arty list loks like this:

Madding scalar


For the group im not done yet but obviously str, inst, slash and cha is less important as they determine Ur dam output not Ur ability to interupt (when u actually wield s/sthis change ofc,- so they go on those). Here i try to max range, duration and casting speed (hence dex also). here after comes anything that makes me live longer (hit, con, resist, +hit cap.

Arty list not done yet, but will include:
pheobus harp and instrument
GoV
SoM
madding scalars

The two last arties are for permanent shapeshift. It makes a HUGE difference in how long they let u mezz and interupt before u get targeted.

Why are none of you using Phoebus Harp necklace? The necklace has a create item ability which creates a harp that you can use for all your instruments instead of having to switch them...

Because the util on the instrument itself is pretty low. Most minstrels who have been playing for a while are used to switching between flute and drum, particularly since they can be bound to keys now (and who uses the lute anyway), so the Phoebus harp is only worth it if you really want to keep something in the 2h slot.

It could be worth it for those who want to use malice as their weapon, while still keeping battler or traitors dagger for the charges on them, but for most it's no real benefit.
