Firstly do NOT count the hits, con, hitscap and concap on weapons and sheild for a minstrel template. When you switch to an instrument all the hits are instantly lost and only start regenerating when you switching back to the weapon, so in 90% of fights you simply won't have these hps to rely on. This immediately cuts 80 hits plus the con and caps from malice. Malice is still worth using for the proc imo, but cyclops once you discount the hits is low utility, so unless you Really want the SL get rid of it.

Apart from that the stats look pretty nice, except the gem which is rubbish tbh - theres no need for instruments in a RvR template unless you run with pets, in which case they need capping. Also many minstels include SOM and WH for the proc and /use2 aura respectively, these are particularly useful if you intend on soloing a lot and worth losing a little utility for.

Cap melee speed and melee damage - you'll need it.
Eirene's Hauberk has bonus to spell range and bonus to magic damage
in addition to what you wrote. If you have 5 cap to charisma, why not
use it? Furthermore, GoV is way better for minstrels then Eirene's Hauberk.

Actually this is one of the biggest load of bollocks myths currently circulating DAoC, +Instruments along with Charisma add to your insta DD damage, and in a way that's amounting to as much extra damage as your toa melee bonuses are likely to get you. Don't believe me? perform a controled test and you'll see the difference.

Hitting my bb with 0% body resist for 227 and 262 with 194 charisma, and no +instr. And with +11 instr I hit it for 238 and 274. There you go, a controled test.

So you proved that +instruments increased your damage, that's what I said it would do.

Now run the same test on the effect of charisma and you'll find that the +11 instruments gives you around the same damage boost as roughly an extra 20 charisma, with the damage boost getting larger as charisma increases.

So lots of Cha+ins = a good thing, and yes you can even fit it into your build.

If you want to argue about the numbers, do some testing on how much of a damage boost you exactly get per point of str, weapon, and toa melee dmg, style - run as many permutations as you can, then discover that it's worthwhile fitting it +ins in as well.

also get mof to bring up the level of the DD spells to 50 - you will see a lot less resists

Don't forget to take into account the fact that you'll get 7-8 swings in melee for each 15 seconds between DD's.

Just because the DD's frontload nicely doesn't make them a mincers primary form of damage output...

PS. I agree, however, that if you do have the imbue space in your template then +inst and +char cap are worth having.

Was merely pointing out that +inst does have an effect other than for controlling pets. In your example rid, +11 inst gave you roughly a 4.5% increase in spell damage. There's a great number of people who imply that it has no effect whatsoever. Often you can get a better boost by not just trying to max out just the one area (e.g. str, +melee damage %, and neglecting other areas).

Actually you misread my original post, I did not say that instruments have no effect other that pet level, rather that "theres no need for instruments in a RvR template unless you run with pets". So yes you did 'prove' that +inst increases DD damage but nobody here was ever disputing that. The fact is that most minstrels do know this but choose not to use +inst because the gain is so small.

I did do some testing on the effect of char in case you're not convinced:
Against lvl 50 bot with 0% body resists, with 190 cha I hit for 225/259. With 115 cha I hit for 180/208. That's a 25% increase in damage for 75 points of cha, compared to 4.5% increase for +11 inst.

So +15 charisma will give the roughly the same gain as +11 inst and at a fraction of the utility cost. I'll let you draw your own conclusions from that and if you honestly still think its worth taking up template space with +inst then so be it, but its not hard to so why the vast majority of minstrels disagree.

Yes I know how much both of charisma and instruments affect DD damage, I've done a fair bit of testing against all kinds of resist levels, AOM etc etc. If you test it enough you'll also find that the boost from +instruments gets larger as charisma goes higher, but that's getting away from what I was trying and looks like failing to express properly

Perhaps I did read what you originally posted in a way that you didn't intend, and for that I appologise, but I think you'd also be surprised at the number of minstrels who think it has no effect at all.

The main point was that depending on your template it maybe possible (and i've seen templates that do it) fit in +instruments in addition to other stats/skills. And for a particular setup, you may find out you can get in +3 instruments into your template easier than srabbling around for an extra 5 charisma cap, with the +3 instruments netting you a larger damage boost than an extra 5 charisma (it does btw) which you may be looking to get from charisma cap

It was only ever intended as a bit of advice from somebody who's done a god awfull number of templates for all kinds of classes, more a xen like 'balance is key' than anything else.

Anyway's I'll give it up as a bad job now.
