Minstrel stealth, as bad as people say?

I keep hearing that high level (35+ points) stealth is wasted on minstrels as all other stealth classes see you miles away and those with see hidden even more so. Anyone care to comment? I have just rolled a minstrel and wanted to get an idea on if I should place a reasonable amount of spec points there.

Any assasin with see hidden will see you as soon as your in view range (like normal unstealthed). Same for any archer class using truesight.

Otherwise with 35+items you should be pretty much hidden until another person gets right on top of you.

My own opinion on this was that taking stealth to 35ish sacrificed too much but I know a couple of people who played 44i/34w/35s templates and said it was ok.

Personally I was going to respec to 44i/44w/21s though, soloing in RvR is a bit pointless as the zergs always wash over you and stealth isnt a useful group ability, infiltrators are better for scouting.

Short answer take stealth to 21, see how you fair, if you want to be more sneeky then 29 is probably more sensible.

get dragonfang and get rid of stealth completely! for this template you would have to autotrain intruments though. infact have to autotrain alot.

Dragonfang relies on an evade though right? I thought Minstrels didn't evade that much, certianly not to the level that asassins do. Plus minstrels get a 6 sec stun on a timer so it really negates that anyway unless dragonfang does huge damage it doesn't seem worthwhile for a Minstrel.

Dragonfang is 9 secs and lower end/power usage. With the current resists, you're lucky to get 3s stun on a tank with your insta. DF is MUCH better.

well I hadn't done my calculations wrong, you would have to auto-train to lvl 36 to get it, so it will be a tough ride to lvl 36, basically you'll be a gimp in chain armour.

But do minstrels actually get enough evades to make it worthwhile, maxing to thrust to 50 is very risky if you only get to use that style once every 3-4 fights. Also leaving instruments to auto till level 36 is just insane Doc

10% chance to evade before you factor in RAs, even if you went up to dodger5 it would only be 25%. I find I block way more than I evade in RvR which is a bit odd so I would question if 50thrust is a good move.

Your right about autotraining instruments as well, you'll be zero use in groups until way past level 36 as your mez length, stun and such will take ages to catch up. Just to note I let my instruments lag behind by a few levels and didnt catch them up till I think 38ish, wasnt a good idea.

I would spec towards 44inst, 39weapon, 21stealth. See how it works out then depending on stealth end up with one of the cookie cutter templates of 44 39 29 or 44 44 21.

Also keep in mind you'll have a full respec at 50 anyway providing you create the char before 1.52 goes live.

I'm not caring much about stealth on my mins, its more a novelty as i find it has little use on a mins because of SB's or archers. I'm going for 50inst/39slash/18 stealth.

That should do me, i prefer to be able to run around with nice pets than a gimpy stealth. I went slash cause i like the styles and want to do asmuch damage to casters and stealthers.

Chance to evade is modified by dex and quick, minstrels tend to have more dex though so you will block more unless you take some dodger...

Youll get a full respecc when the patch comes no matter what lvl you got, after that a single line respecc at 20 and 40. There is no lvl 50 respecc.... Unless we Europeans get a bonus respecc the US didnt get .
