Minimum word length in search requests?

So irritating. Some admin change it to 3 letters please.

3-letter words/acronyms are very common and I'm getting fed up of not being able to search for them, even when they're part of a longer phrase.

Would it really have that much effect on the speed of the system or bandwidth usage? Search requests aren't *that* frequent anyway, are they?
