What is it currently?
I thought it had gone up recently to £4.50, but then i read the following:
The rates are based on the recommendations of the independent Low Pay Commission and are the minimum wages from October 2002 are:
Main (adult) rate for workers aged 22 and over – £4.20 per hour
Development rate* for workers aged 18-21 inclusive – £3.60 per hour
* The development rate can also apply to workers aged 22 and above during their first six months in a new job with a new employer and who are receiving accredited training.
Following the Low Pay Commission’s recommendations, published on 19 March 2003, the adult national minimum wage will increase to £4.50 from October 2003. The rate for 18-21 year olds will rise to £3.80. The Government has also provisionally accepted that the rates should increase to £4.85 and £4.10, respectively, in October 2004.
Is this correct?
Also, do/have any of you worked as bar staff, or know anyone that does, what rates were you/they on?
Cheers
