Well... so finally teh missus and I agreed on getting SW:G - I wonder though if it will run (even on low detail) on the missus' machine.

PIII/700
512 mb RAM
gForce 2/64 mb

Tell me that it will run... don't want to buy yet another comp just to run certain games smoothly. ;)

It runs great on my machine-

Athlon 1.2
512 ddr
Radeon 128 ddr

The specs from the box are:

100% DirectX9 compatible
Windows 98SE/ME/200/XP
Intel P3 933mhz or AMD Athlon 900 required
256 RAM needed, 512 recommended
GFX card 32 Meg with T&L capability required, 64 MEG or greater recommended

Yup, it's the 933 mhz that gives me a headache.

We dl'ed the Asherons's Call 2 15 days trial and their min spec is a Pentium 733 - and the game ran like utter shyte on the missus' comp.

DAoC SI which requires 1ghz minimum ran fine, though.

Was just wondering if anyone with a "weak" machine has it running relatively fine.

I started out on a p3 750 with 512mb & geforce 3 ti200.
Game was fine apart from crowded cities, which practically everyone has framerate problems with. Certainly didnt notice any issues apart from the usual random crashes/freezes which my pc has always done anyway.

Ace! Great - guess she'll have to turn the detail down a little (resulting in "Hey... *noticing the wife is looking at my screen, running any game on full detail* when do I get that new comp then?" :p) but it looks like it's going to work. *rubs hands*

Lets hope my software dealer does a better job getting me SW:G than he did with Planetside....

Been reading a lot about the performance and speaking to a few people, it seems that the proccesser power isnt really important aslong as you have something that will run it, its all down to the RAM on how well it plays.

The game is like a fat kid in a candy store when it comes to RAM usage so the more the better.

Get back to CM you dirty elph ;)

OT- Seems most SOE games for some reason are real RAM eaters, i know PS is as well. I have 512 DDR and i lag-up in the big cities (especially Coronet). Anyone run with 1024? If so do you still lag in the cities?

when i started in beta i was on 512mb sdram + a 1.1 tbird, both where over a year old and decided to die at pretty much the same time. Performance was fine (usually 20fps, 5-10 in large citys)

I upgraded to 2600XP and 512mb DDR. I was playing in 1600x1200 with pretty much full detail. FPS never went over 30, usually sticking around 20-25 (outside Kor Vella and Coronet on Correlia)

Going into citys, medical centers and cantina's made my fps drop to 5-15. Reducing display to 1024x786 with the lowest details didnt make much diff. I put this down to the large amounts of players in one place. (not hard to find a cantina with 30 odd ppl sitting and dancing about!)

There are lots and lots of options to play with to help with fps, radial flora and water effects being the most harmfull to your fps :)

They have capped the max FPS at 29. i read this can be changed if you mess around with the files but was also told they wouldnt like that :p

F1 and Shift + F1

To see them, resize the quickbar pane :)
