Background Point : Norse Weapons
The hammer is the symbolic weapon of Midgard because it is Thor's favourite weapon, even if by Loki's fault its haft is too short. On the battlefields however the Norsemen favour the axe, a sturdy and efficient tool for everyday chores that often proves useful in battle, as it can chop limbs as well as wood.
The sword remains a ceremonial weapon, and a precious family heirloom ritually exchanged during the weddings. Because of the low quality of the metals employed to forge the blades they were often unreliable in battle, and duels often stopped to give the duellists time to unbend their swords.
Finally, the spear is meant to be thrown at the enemy before engaging him, and thus often has special fins on its haft to stabilise its flight. The metal studs fixing the head to the shaft are said to have magical properties, although the reason why is now lost. Thus all new spears are build using old metal studs from previous spears, to pass these magical properties.
now when are hunters gonna be able to specc in throwing their spears???
