Now this didnt happen to me in person so i wont mention ANY names, jsut see it as a warning!

A friend of mine was approached by a lvl1 toon which said hed like to twink his new char (named kinda like a well known player's toon), Promising he had 1p on his main. SO if my friend gave him 1p hed switch and give my friend 1p back. Noone from his mains guild was online (nor did my friend check, trusting the toons "mains" good name (but never again i bet ))

He received the 1p and logged, but noone showed up. and left my friend with 50s in the pocket.

So my point with this is.. dont GIVE money to anyone, that approaches you and ask to help out. Get the money from the main first THEN give to the twink. Or refuse and tell him to nag his guild . (Hate to state the obvious, but when ppl abuse ppl's name and reputation to scam ppl...... )

I'm ashamed that ppl can do this to their own realm mates.

You twat it wasnt me, try reading the whole thing instead of reading selected parts.. it was someone who pretended to be an alt to an wellknown Mid char. and being trusting my friend complied. Stupid? Maybe.. but the point is why shouldnt you be able to trust ppl in the same realm?

Its idiots like "him" that makes me want to quit, but the good ppl keeps pulling me back.

Well if a lvl 1 comes up to u and askes about u and ur guild and why u don't join the "mains" guild (have talked about it before) and talk and act just like the "main" and then sez that he is crafting and he needs some money and first u give 300g and talk a little more about this and that and then he sez that why not do it even and make it 1P and even offers 50% interest cuz his main is not close to the forge atm and since u trust the "main" u hand over the money and keep talking to the guy for a while and he still acts just like his "main" should talking about things that almost only u and his "main" can know about...


I would for sure give him the money.... and btw he has fooled lots of ppl....

There u have the whole thing and as i said we both (me and the victim) know the "main" really well... infact many in Midgard know the main realy well...

BTW this did not happen to me but to one very close to me...

Damn that sucks big time.

I've helped with money & item exchanges with players in the past, but only when they have handed them over to me first to pass on. This procedure should be abided by all players to avoid situations that your friend has unfortunatly found him/herself in.

Happened to one of my fellow guild mates too. A lowbie told this fellow guild member of mine to lend him some money and told him that he was me and managed to steal about 100g. His name was crafter if you want to know. If i see you anywhere prepare for a bollocking.

Garnet we had something similar but lost a huge amount of money.


Some guy called 'Crafting' claimed to be an alt of bluejam and joined the white rose. He went around looking for members asking if he could borrow money and would pay it back out of the 2 plat he had on his main.

In total we belive he managed to get 3 platt! out of us. Battlerager gave him 1.3platt of that (omg ;/)


Crafting bloke was never to be seen again

I reported it using rightnow and they sorted the matter, but couldnt give the money back. The crafting guy prolly got a ban maybe if you report the guy 'Crafter' he could end up with a complete ban.

Makes me sad reading stuff like this. As far as I am concerned this is theft, and you should report the char and all the details to RightNow and that guys account should get a perma ban. GOA also have the ability to track the money so any accomplices can also be implicated and also banned.

Its easy to mock someone as being stupid for falling for this scam, but that really isn't the point. Should we mock OAPs for getting scammed on their doorsteps by con-artists ?

Hmm...perhaps this char is linked to the level 1 who logged in immediately after a few of us ganked some Albs yesterday afternoon at AMG and began abusing Release and others (got the screenies guys?) with the foulest of language. Sad that these fuckwits exist. I wouldn't think anyone in Midgard with a high level 1st char would risk a permanent ban with GOA's ability to check their logs. It would however be probably quite difficult for GOA to link a second "rogue" account with the main one so both can be erased though.

If, however, the fraudster is a complete dolt and used an alt of his main account a quick post to RightNow and its a case of "Hasta La Vista Baby"

all this kind of abuse and fraud should be reported to GOA as fast as possible by all that has become victims both the ones that has gotten their names rubbed in the dirt and those who got coned ...

maybe we never get to see the money and items but hopefully we might loose those con-artists...

I mean i would not pay for the game just to be able to play for some hours.... ;/

btw they must have some way to see who he gave the money to after takin them from the vicitims...

IIRC they log everything, its just a matter of finding it in the log files, and they must be HUGE. Considering the activity each player generates and multiply that by the amount of players ... i wouldnt like to be the one put on log search duty

But i do hope SOMETHING gets done, an example needs to be set somewhere .. only question is when they'll do that.

Yer I agree something needs to be here is my 2 pence worth

Recently while XPing i decide to help a little lvl 36 Hunter (Name Omitted) We were in WW cave and he asked if I could help him lvl a bit, as I had just half dinged I thought why not and proceded to kill spiders downstairs, I noticed that he was using a TL bow and basically for his lvl it was crap, he wasnt doing much damage with it. I being the kind person I am and to make the XP faster and safer, gave him one of my own Great Crafted Bows, which I know would do more damage than the TL, Its the bow I soloed from lvl 30-40 Mainly (I now have Epic bow so dont really need it but thats not the point) I said I was going to borrow this bow to him while we XPed and he dinged, he willingly agreed.

After about 40 mins XPing he decided to go AFK for his dinner no matter I thought but then suddenly dissapeared bow and all.

Now this guy was lvl 36 and in a guild and when I messaged him for bow back, he said what bow I aint got your bow, now put simply he is either 11 years old or he is just down right lame.

Well all I can say is that I will again once more try messaging him, and If possible track him down in game and ask him for bow, I even offered to sell him the bow at a very cheap price but still he said I aint got your bow.

Well all i can say is if you read this and have got the balls to give back the bow, then well done, if not then its time for a naming and a shaming, not seen many peeps from Guild he was in before but if nowt happens in next few days, I will name him and the guild, and see what happens.

The main point is that I didnt really need the bow and dont really need the cash, but it the principle that counts, and how this CHILD responded.

If u had been in the situation with that 1P thing u would have given him the money... i talked to him long time after he had con'd my friend for money (did not know it was a scam then) and he must either know the one he supposed to be or just reeeeally go con artist... and since i had seen him sitting in gna earlier at the forge i was pretty sure he was crafting... and as i said in earlier posting he talked like "his main" and we talked about stuff that we had talked about before...

ooh and he did not ask for 1p right off.... he asked for some money bto be able to continue crafting and then they talked a for another while, and then he said that he might as well make it a even amount and offered 50% intereset...

It is easy to say that you would never give ALOT of money to beggers(Hell i have said it also... many times) but in this situation i for sure would have given the money...

Btw the other day some guy comes up to me asking for few gold for armor and weap's so i give him 3-4g and he sez thanx and keep yelling about more money in /b in Gna after people told him to stfu I Pm'd him and asked why he kept asking for money... and he just told me that he liked to beg for money and that he had been doin it since start and had 4p on his main and that he had begged for it all... and he was also telling me that his alt was a "high-lvl" guy (Told me the name but i won't tell it here ) btw this time he has like lvl 6 or something...

Is it just me or has the beggars began to be less happy for the money and expect more then 5-10g ? cuz everyone i have helped in the last weeks has been like "oh thanx very much" but a month or two ago when u gave a lvl 5 10 gold they could not stop thanking u, so u almost had to put them on /ignore

i gave 10g to a lvl1 toon in atla once (he asked nice) but then he said "Is that all?" thats when i just walked away, but he kept sending me things like "c'mon i know you got atleast 100g to spare" and " dont be cheap". if i EVER see him in trouble i sit down next to him and watch him die
